Please do so! Entering this gate as vast as the sky is the mission entrusted by Guru Rinpoche (Lde'u mig) and his retinue. This was written by Mipham (Mi Pham) on the ninth day of the first month of the Iron Snake year (Tibetan calendar). May virtue increase! Mangalam! Those who propagated the Buddha's teachings in this snowy land are the three ancestral kings (Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen, and Tri Relpachen). Those who raised the victory banner of the teachings are Khenpo (Shantarakshita), Acharya (Padmasambhava), and Dharma King (Trisong Detsen). Those who uphold the teachings for a long time are the Sangha. These are unparalleled in their kindness to Tibet. 1 The one who opened the door of language in the snowy land is Sambhota. Those who illuminated the teachings of Sutra and Tantra are the translators Ka, Chok, and Zhang. Those who clarified the logical paths of reasoning are the wise scholars. These are the suns of Dharma in Tibet. 2 Therefore, the Nyingma school (sNga 'gyur pa) pioneered the path of vehicles for Sutra, Tantra, and all cultures. Its roots and branches were propagated by impartial saints. Until today, the power of the teachings continues to flourish. 3 Even so, like children who are full and satisfied, they complain to their mother. Some narrow-minded and immoral people exalt themselves and demean the old teachings (referring to the Nyingma school). Alas! Delving into the profound treasure of the Buddha's teachings, the essence of the teachings of Sutra and Tantra exists in the Nyingma school due to the kindness of unparalleled accomplished masters. However, to those who are not proficient in the essence of their respective beliefs, the narrow-minded ones, the teachings of the Nyingma school, because of their ordinary and unique Dharma methods, fall into a state of doubt as to whether they are true or false. Those who understand the vast Dharma treasury and comprehend the profound essence see that the numerous Dharma doors (of the Nyingma school) point to the ultimate essence of everything, and therefore are seen as the pinnacle of everything. If one thinks carefully, one will find that the successive holders of the Nyingma teachings are unparalleled in their kindness, and their teachings spread like an ocean throughout the cool snowy land. All who enter the Dharma rely on their kindness. Even so, there is no dispute that the teachings of the three pitakas are Nyingma. The most profound Vajrayana inner three sections were not widely known even in ancient India. However, the pandits and accomplished masters, equal to the Buddha himself, left them as the fortune of Tibet. However, those who do not know the profound essence and are short-sighted, based on the idea that 'this is the Dharma of the Nyingma school,' harbor doubts and proclaim malicious words of jealousy. The great treasure of jewels has become the exclusive possession of the Nyingma school. The most profound view of Vajrayana, the pith instructions that reveal the profound view, although these are the treatises of the heart essence, those mantra holders without fortune regard them as treasures buried underground. O, those who see the true and excellent path! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O wise one! If it exists, then the ultimate understanding of all new lineages entirely depends on this. This is like the oral instructions from lineage to lineage. These are not treatises newly discovered through the study of ordinary people's intelligence, nor are they fabricated modifications of speculation, but the Vajrayana (རྡོ་རྗེ་ཐེག་པ་,Dorje Thegpa,Vajrayana) tantras spoken by the Victorious One (རྒྱལ་བ་,Gyalwa,Victorious One, referring to the Buddha) himself. In order to reveal here the teachings hidden elsewhere, if one can well grasp these rare and supreme teachings, although they are profound and difficult to understand, if understood, there is nothing else comparable in significance. Some promises that seem 'good, good, right, right,' seem easy to understand, but if you delve deeper, they are just tricks to please children, like sand wine cups that cannot bear heavy burdens. For these profound Vajra secret instructions established by the ultimate discriminating intellect, if certainty arises, then as long as the sky exists, it will never be shaken by the arguments of opponents. Even in the treasure island born from the early Dharma treasury (ཆོས་མཛོད་,Chödzö,Dharma treasury), some people will take away some of the wealth and accept the bondage of others. Doubting one's own Dharma is like losing the protection of the gods and worshiping ghosts. Those who possess the wisdom of supreme certainty will not seek various things that increase conceptual proliferation, but will be satisfied by using all their abilities to enjoy the essence of the nectar of the lineage's oral instructions. If others think that this statement is too self-praising, then please use the wisdom of the four reliances (རྟོན་པ་བཞི་,Tönpa Zhi,Four Reliances) to understand well the key to the view, the oral instructions for practice, the scriptures, the connection of the Dharma, and the infallible reasoning. After that, just as the sunlight of certainty dispels the darkness of doubt, it will appear. If you see it this way, then in the time of the five degenerations (སྙིགས་མ་ལྔ་བདོའི་དུས,Nyigma Nga Dö Dü,Time of Five Degenerations), I, a Dharma speaker who bears the burden of upholding the Dharma, although I have only small merits in terms of liberation and am tormented by hundreds of sufferings of karma and afflictions, with single-minded respect for this Dharma, I will speak as much as I can, whenever possible, to benefit the early Dharma. These are like a father cherishing a clean bowl, not out of favoritism, but from certainty. It is not to refute others who disagree in doctrine out of hatred, but to clarify the meaning of the vehicle (ཐེག་,Thek,Vehicle). Therefore, in order for me to clearly see the kindness of the Victorious One (རྒྱལ་བ་,Gyalwa,Victorious One, referring to the Buddha) himself and the Victorious One's sons (རྒྱལ་བའི་སྲས,Gyalwé Sé,Buddha's sons), and the early saints who appeared in reality, and to generate respect for the supreme Dharma. I would rather bear the evil karma of being cut by the sharp sword of a Rakshasa for countless lifetimes due to the uncertain words, and not take the lotus tongue that speaks the supreme Dharma. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
