Those who are deceived by various internal and external sectarian views do not strive to learn the correct Dharma through hearing and thinking, because they cannot realize the truth simply by doing so. Therefore, those who are proficient in the Dharma should carefully examine it in three ways, so as to correctly view the pure Dharma. The second point is that even the words spoken by the Buddha, the lord of the three realms, are very profound because of the distinctions between direct, metaphorical, and intentional meanings, and are difficult for ordinary people to understand or begin to practice. Therefore, one must first prostrate with respect before beginning to strive to practice. And whatever one hears, one must listen with respect and analyze with wisdom. Just as a skilled blacksmith smelts, cuts, and polishes good gold, so too should monks or other wise people thoroughly examine the teachings in three ways before accepting the words of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, and not simply follow others out of respect. Therefore, the teacher himself said: 'Any meaning that accords with scripture and reason, is clearly expressed, and is consistent from beginning to end, should be accepted by the noble ones.' This is what is to be shown. The third part is divided into three aspects: the way to rely on oneself and a virtuous friend, to become familiar with the key points of this method, and to show the fruit of such familiarity. The first point is that this analysis also depends on oneself and the lama. Therefore, one should repeatedly and respectfully offer to the guru who possesses four qualities—that is, through one's own efforts, having an undeluded view of the two truths, compassion, skill in means, and freedom from laziness—such a virtuous friend. Because when the mind is firmly seeking the truth of liberation, one should thoroughly inquire and investigate the key points about knowing the nature of mind. The second point is that when the nature of mind is without self-nature, and all thoughts are eliminated, where the mind goes and where it abides cannot be seen. Therefore, once the nature of mind is fully understood, the nature of all phenomena will also be understood. Therefore, one should become familiar with this mind that shows various ways of striving.

Wherever one goes, wherever one travels, one should focus one's mind on the direction and goal of the journey, and practice complete purification. If one does so, then wherever one moves, whatever one does, everything will be the nature of mind. Therefore, the master teaches in conventional terms the principle of mind-only without objects. Therefore, this mind, through the habits formed by hearing and thinking, is led and carried by habits to the various appearances of samsara. By stopping ordinary mental activities, the body of habits will be guided, elevated, and liberated from them. Therefore, do not be afraid of various appearances, and do not try to eliminate them. Even in the realm of the Buddha, there will be countless appearances of blessings, and what is the point of abandoning them as if they were without objects? The third result is: whatever causes people's minds to be joyful, just as a precious crystal with various colors changes color according to the cause, the nature of the mind also changes according to the good or bad causes it encounters. Therefore, it should be transformed by suchness, compassion, and skillful means. Dedication of the Merit of Completing the Work Third, dedicating the merit of completion. Through the immeasurable merit gained by writing this treatise, and the goodness generated by relying on the excellent two accumulations of faith, may all beings be able to turn to the four or five wisdoms of the Buddha. Concluding Meaning The fundamental third part, the meaning of the conclusion, has two aspects: stating the author and stating the translator. First: This work, called 'Yeshe Nyingpo Kunle Dupa' (Compendium of the Essence of Wisdom), was written by the great master Paba Lha (Aryadeva), and is completely finished. Second: Translated, proofread, and finalized by the Indian scholar Kṛṣṇapāda and the translator Bhikṣu Chökyi Sherab. May this world, like the sun, illuminate everything, and may the treatise of profound view be fully revealed. May the excellent treatise that reveals the intention of the Holy Ones be clearly explained by Jamyang Lama with commentary. With great joy and pure mind, whatever merit I have gained from copying this treatise, may all beings thoroughly understand this profound meaning and attain omniscience. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
