To say (things) is meaningless. Only I can make such distinctions. Secondly, regarding the way concepts operate, there are two aspects: establishing one's own system and refuting others' systems. First, for the universal that is established by excluding what is not itself, one may mistakenly identify it as a self-character and thus understand it as a self-character. Apart from the universal, the self-character cannot be directly and nakedly expressed in words or understood by concepts, because if it could, it would lead to contradictions such as affirming and negating simultaneously. Secondly, there are two aspects: refuting the view that what is said is a real universal, and refuting the view that there is a real connection between sound and meaning. First, if one examines what is said by sound, then the real universal that pervades all particular things does not exist, because it contradicts the particular things, being neither one nor many, thus negating its reality. This examination of one and many does not apply to the exclusion of non-existents, because it can be distinguished and applied according to one's own will, so it is merely imputed. Secondly, therefore, the view that 'things that did not exist before do not exist' is a heretical (view), because according to their view, whatever is a thing is never separate from non-existence, so everything will always exist, falling into the fallacy of eternalism. 'Non-existence' and 'thing' as difference and basis, although there is no real connection, but through mental जोड़ना (Sbyar na, connection), 'thing that did not exist before' and 'thing that did not exist before', are merely different in expression, but there is no difference in reality. Although it is impossible for a thing and non-existence to have a common basis, in order to exclude the thing from existing before, it is necessary to rely on the opposite, that is, sound. Who can prevent people from saying that 'sound expresses a thing that did not exist before'? No one can prevent it. Secondly, debate and refutation. If someone asks those who believe that there is no 'self' (svabhava), if there is a reason to exclude dharmas other than 'self', then by negating and excluding, the existence of 'self' is proven. If there is no reason to exclude other things, then it is impossible to express 'self', just like whether 'rabbit horns' exist, or whether 'pot' does not exist. The conclusion is that 'rabbit horns' exist, because they are measurable. The conclusion is that 'pot' does not exist, because it is not svabhava. This is because the measurable and the established are considered to be the same thing. The conclusion is that 'pot' does not exist, because it is not svabhava. The reason is that 'pot' is neither a gold pot, nor a copper pot, nor any other pot. This is because if it is svabhava, then it is a particular thing. If someone thinks this way, then from what is it reversed? First, the mind arises from the perspective of sound, rather than first establishing meaning, and then needing to express it with sound. Therefore, the appearance in the mind and the examination of things are mixed together, and in order to enter into things, this way of appearing in concepts is like this: meaning is established... The object and the subject are mixed together. In order to enter into things, this way of appearing in concepts is like this: meaning is established... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or rather, 'merely appearing as real' is only a speculation, not the actual meaning. Based on one's own conceptual mind to establish terms, arbitrarily assigning any name. Furthermore, one can guide and interpret these names in terms of time, direction, etc., according to one's own wishes. Not all sounds must be directly related to things themselves, otherwise one would fall into a state of arbitrariness. Therefore, the use of sound depends on individual intention and choice. Third, summarizing its key points: What one wants to understand cannot be expressed by directly describing the essence of things, but must be understood by excluding other possibilities, that is, through a definitive approach. Whether it is a noun or its suffix, the specific meaning to be expressed does not come directly from the power of the word itself, but is understood through context. For example, the word 'wood' can mean 'chopping wood,' but in a specific context it can also refer to 'the deer in front of you.' Suffixes can also change the meaning of words, such as the suffix 'only,' which can be understood through context as 'only black,' 'abandoning,' or 'confirming,' etc. Discussion on the Differentiation of Meanings In general, next, the second part is about the discussion of specific situations, divided into three aspects: stating the views of others, analyzing them, and revealing key points. First, in some Tibetan regions, some people believe that mixing various terms, whether making affirmative or negative commitments in debates, will be problematic. Second, regarding this issue, we need to analyze it first and cannot accept it rashly. After analysis, we can find that all affirmative forms can be reduced to affirmations of 'is' and 'has,' while all negative forms can be reduced to negations of 'is not' and 'has not.' Therefore, for the same thing, it is impossible to be both 'is' and 'is not,' or both 'has' and 'has not.' If this situation exists, then concepts such as 'is' and 'is not' are not mutually exclusive opposites. For the exclusion that is merely a sound concept, such as 'impermanent' and 'permanent,' 'has' and 'has not,' and universal concepts such as 'knowable,' both can coexist because this exclusion is not based on the contradiction of the thing itself, but on the conceptual distinction. This universal concept does not exist independently but is attached to individual things, and therefore is influenced by individual things. Therefore, any statement, whether from an affirmative or negative perspective, must be cautious. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
