The clinging arises from the conviction that this sole wisdom, devoid of duality of grasping and grasped, is the very essence of true existence. O Realizer! The mere consciousness that distinguishes the emptiness of what is grasped, etc., this distinction is not the path of practice for distinguishing or separating grasping and grasped. This teacher is a Yogācāra-Madhyamaka, so what has been said up to this point is similar to Cittamātra. The third part has three aspects: establishing that self-awareness is without truth; how to meditate upon realizing it; and how clinging to it is reversed through meditation. The first point is: whatever arises dependently is necessarily devoid of a true essence. For example, like the appearance of illusory horses and cattle. It is established that this non-dual self-awareness is also dependent origination. The second point is: when analyzed correctly or through reasoning, one should meditate thinking that it is devoid of the nature of being subject to conceptualization as either existing or not existing, or both or neither. The third point is: the yogi who possesses the yoga of realizing that all phenomena are without inherent existence will completely abandon the obscurations of knowledge, namely the clinging to the grasped, the grasper, and self-awareness. When is it abandoned? When, upon analysis with reason, it is not suitable as a cause-and-effect entity, so the path of seeing, which is empty of thoughts of attachment, etc., appearing as the nature of illusion, is individually realized in an inexpressible way by each non-conceptual yogi, that is, when something is truly born in the continuum. When does it arise? It arises when the power of meditation is accomplished by meditating in this way, separated from the four extremes, that is, when meditation reaches its ultimate perfection. The reason for abandoning at that time is: at that time, for some ordinary beings, just as the knowledge of the illusion of images filled with one and many appears when jewels, silver, etc., clear the tarnish on a mirror, all gross marks of delusion that obscure the vision of reality are abandoned, that is, separated. In the Clear Words it says: Just as a person with clear eyes sees jewels etc. at the same time, and at that time they neither harm nor benefit, so too, in the realm of what is seen, the conventional truths appear as clearly as fruit placed in the palm of one's hand.

These will not cause harm, and will help to increase the Buddha's teachings, therefore, pure and pleasing examples and illusions, these mundane things appear unmixed like lotus petals, but it is not appropriate to explain the latter as an example of non-conceptuality, so it is better to be difficult to understand. The Lamas said in the Lankavatara Sutra: Relying on mind-only, do not discriminate against external objects. Similarly, from the object of Suchness, one should return from mind-only. After returning from mind-only, one should also return from non-appearance. The yogi who abides in non-appearance, he sees the Great Vehicle. Following these words, in the place of mind-only, Suchness, and the yoga of abiding in non-appearance, in the former case, it is not very appropriate to say that one establishes all dharmas as mind-only through view, because the one who establishes is a Madhyamika, so he establishes all dharmas as non-elaboration through view. The second is the second part of explaining the meaning of words, explaining the part where the views of the realists cannot completely eliminate the obscurations. The second part is divided into two parts. First is the statement of commitment: If the grasped and the grasper and the self-awareness of self-nature are not emptiness, but are truly existent, then. That is, the realists and Vijnanavada believe that the defilements of mind and mental factors and the other-dependence of Vijnana are true, so they believe that they are established in the ultimate truth. Refuting it: For the defilements of attachment, etc., practicing their respective antidotes will not cause the slightest harm, because they exist in the ultimate truth, therefore. Just as the sky cannot be harmed, this is an example of the conclusion. If the aspect of knowing momentary dharmas, and the self-awareness of mere knowing, which is non-dual, and the nature of the knowable, that is, the grasped, are all existent in the ultimate truth, then because one must maintain its own immutability of increasing through the path of growth and decreasing through the path of elimination, the pervasion is established. The sky maintains the nature of the intangible substance of touch, just as abiding there cannot increase or decrease, this is an example of the reason for proving pervasion. Furthermore, whichever of the realists and Vijnanavadins, if they determine that the grasped and the grasper and self-awareness are not truly existent, and are attached to them.
