It is pervasive, because if the cause is the antidote to minor defilements, then the fruit obtained from it is also liberation from only a portion of defilements. Some believe that this treatise shows the purity of Bodhisattvas to be superior to that of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, while others explain that this treatise describes the purity of Bodhisattvas as being nominally superior. Both of these are unreasonable. If, in context, the reason for explaining whether the purity of Buddhas and Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas is superior is asked, then the answer becomes irrelevant to the question, just as if one were to ask the difference between a cow and a non-cow, and then explain the merits and demerits of a horse and a buffalo, and the nominal superiority of a horse and a buffalo. Here, the Sutra of the Nine Successive Meditations is cited, but "Boundless Space" is not cited. The second part has two sections: debate and answer. The first is: As an antidote to the nine successively increasing afflictions to be abandoned, how can the nine Mahāyāna paths that arise from the smallest to the largest, by the reason that they purify all defilements, be that their fruit, the purity of the Buddha, is the unestablished purity, but is superior? Because the order of abandonment and antidote is unreasonable, because the great afflictions to be abandoned must be overcome by the great, and the small by the small. If that is the case, then the teacher's intention is to raise this debate from within, and as an answer to the debate, to establish the purity of the Buddha as superior by means of the example of the bather. Therefore, this is a refutation of the debate, and as a reason for establishment, there is nothing more here than above. The reason for this doubt arising is also that above, it was said that omniscience is truly superior, and that of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas is nominally superior. Some think that the reason for this is that the cause, the path, destroys all that is to be abandoned and a portion of it. The way of destroying is also that from the great to be abandoned, the antidote is from the small to the great, therefore this is unreasonable, so the difference in fruit is also unreasonable. This is understood by the way the external commentary criticizes the afflictions to be abandoned. If such a doubt is not raised, then the following answer will become irrelevant and repetitive. If one does not understand the way of raising doubts, and thinks that this treatise intends to specifically establish superiority, and that the purity of the Buddha is established as superior to the purity of Bodhisattvas, then these are just efforts that are fruitless. The second part has two

From... First, explaining the intention of the master, according to the noble ones, there are three: the way to counteract, the way to realize the object, and the debate and refutation of it. First, the path of meditation is considered to be the antidote to all that is abandoned by meditation in the three realms. The Bhagavan's complete purification is not the arising in the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. Thus it is said. This summarizes the meaning of the way to counteract explained earlier. Second, then, how does one counteract by realizing the object? By realizing that the measuring subject and the measured object are not established separately, but are equality, one abandons what is to be abandoned. The Bhagavan's complete purification is without seeking. Thus it is said. The Bhagavan said: Shariputra, all dharmas are inert. Thus it is said. Seeking is wisdom. Inert is the knowable. Third, if all dharmas are shown to be equality, then, if through the way of having both what is to be abandoned and the antidote, from the largest to the smallest of what is to be abandoned, and from the smallest to the largest of the antidote, there is cessation and arising, is it not so? If not, how can it be non-dual equality? Answer: In the ultimate truth, the mother of the path of meditation does not benefit or harm the omniscient mind in any way, therefore, the reason is not established. In the conventional truth, the pervasion is not established. If there is no benefit to the omniscient mind, then what is the use of striving to accumulate the two accumulations? Answer: The mother of the path of meditation does not grasp any dharma as a result in the ultimate truth, therefore, it is accepted. In the conventional truth, it is as before. If no dharma is grasped, then is there no attainment of what is to be attained, and no realization of what is to be realized? Answer: In the ultimate truth, because there are not two, it is accepted. In the conventional truth, it is as before. In this way, by eliminating such arguments with three refutations, the path of realizing equality is established as the antidote to the three realms, which is a complete exposition of the views of both the Sun-like and the Eighty Thousand Verses. Second, it is completely established as being very... Where? In the Buddha's complete purification. By what means? By the means of abandonment. Where? When showing that what is to be abandoned ceases and arises from the largest to the smallest, and the antidote from the smallest to the largest, by the great of the great antidote, etc., the opposing side is also the great of the great, and the opposing side is the small of the small, etc., the antidote can also be inferred to be the small of the small, etc. Thus it is said...
