Since manifest phenomena cannot coexist, manifestation is not abandoned. However, it is not contradictory for the seeds of what is to be abandoned and the antidote to exist simultaneously in one continuum. Therefore, negative rebirth is abandoned. That is, the arising of the path of liberation and the cessation of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous in that continuum. Therefore, when the path of liberation is fully arisen, what is to be abandoned is also fully ceased. In this way, when the path of liberation that is the share of any of what is to be abandoned has already arisen, then the share of what is to be abandoned does not exist in the continuum. The meaning of abandonment is that if the antidote does not arise, then the later continuum of the same kind as what is to be abandoned connects to that continuum, and due to the power of its arising, it prevents the continuation of the later continuum. The third is that the power of the antidote arising in the continuum transforms the mind-continuum, which was previously a vessel for what is to be abandoned, into a non-vessel, thereby eliminating the opportunity for the continuum of what is to be abandoned to arise. This is the meaning of abandonment. As the *Compendium of Topics* says, "Because of being separated from the aspect of negative rebirth, abiding in the nature of not arising afflictions in the future, this is abandonment." The *Treasury of Knowledge* considers that when one is liberated, the non-learning mind of the future arises, and by what is abandoned, the obscurations are abandoned by the path of the present that ceases. As the *Treasury of Knowledge* says: "The non-learning mind arises, from the obscurations, liberation occurs, by the path that ceases, its obscurations are completely abandoned." Some people think that the cessation of the antidote that ceases and the cessation of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous, but this is not the correct view. In *The Intent of the Sage*, it says: "Then, is the past, future, or present mind liberated? If it is said that the future mind that is arising is not liberated from the obscurations of non-learning. If it is said that the path of abandoning the obscurations by its arising is what stage? It is ceasing, so it is the present." Like this, in the *Self-Commentary*, it says: "Cessation is approaching cessation, it is the present, this is its definition." If the arising of the antidote and the cessation of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous, then when the greatest part of the great yoga path is fully arisen, it is necessary to make all the last to-be-cultivated abandonments cease completely. Therefore, ultimately, all obscurations must be abandoned, because there are no obscurations other than those to be seen and those to be cultivated. This is impossible, because even on the level of Buddhahood there is extremely subtle ignorance.

Furthermore, regarding one type of fault, it is stated in the commentary, and also in the Ornament of the Sutras, explaining the obscurations that obstruct that ground, and also in the Compendium of Determinations, the fault of that which is defiled is: although the predispositions have been abandoned, it is previously produced by defilements and completely imbued by defilements, that is, in a way that is not suitable for doing similar actions, it naturally abides in inferiority, enters inferiority and is extremely subtle, and extremely small. The fault of that which is accompanied by defilements is called the habitual tendencies of afflictions, which are not abandoned by Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas, but only by the Tathagata, and the one who has completely destroyed these habitual tendencies is called the unshared Dharma of the Buddha. Thus, among the two faults of that which is defiled and that which is accompanied by defilements, the former is abandoned by the Hearer Arhats, and the latter is abandoned only by the Buddha, because it is said so. This and the ground of habitual tendencies of ignorance are the same in meaning. If it were not so, if the habitual tendencies of the two obscurations together were constantly abandoned, then since it would become a ground without remainder, it would follow that there would be five wisdoms, and it would follow that completely destroying the habitual tendencies would not be an unshared quality of the Sage, and it would follow that the Svabhavikakaya would be manifested, and so on, there would be limitless faults. If there is something to be abandoned on the Buddha ground, then it would follow that there would be a stain of being a Buddha, if it is said so, then that fault will not occur, because the faults that are present on the tenth ground, as long as the first omniscient wisdom has not arisen, until that time, they arise continuously from connecting before and after, but when that wisdom is obtained, at that time the continuum is stopped, so it is considered to be abandoned by the Buddha ground, and it is not abandoned after the Buddha's wisdom has arisen. Similarly, the objects to be abandoned that are present on the previous ground, if the subsequent grounds have not arisen, then they arise continuously, and by the power of the subsequent grounds arising, at the time of the subsequent grounds, the opportunity to arise is not obtained, so it is established as being abandoned by the subsequent grounds. It is not the case that after the antidote, there is an object to be abandoned that is abandoned. Sixth, on the first ground, this three-thousandfold great thousand world is completely filled with hundreds of thousands of billions of treasures, and on the second ground, that world is like the palm of the hand, filled with billions of precious jewels.
