There are three. The general aspect is established, the individual characteristics are explained, and the reason for establishing the four fruits. The first has four points: the number of the Sangha, the way of expressing it, where it is established, and the way of obtaining the fruits. The first is: four pairs of persons or eight types of individuals, that is, those who have entered and those who have attained the fruit of Stream-enterer in order to manifest the fruit of Stream-enterer, and similarly, it should be applied to Once-returner, Non-returner, Arhats, etc. These are the main parts of the Sangha of the Lesser Vehicle, but it is not limited to these numbers, like the Hearers on the Path of Accumulation. Among them, according to the Treasury of Knowledge, all eight are pervaded by the noble ones. If the first Stream-enterer's realization is the lowest, then it is said to abide in the Patience of Dharma towards suffering. He and the Stream-enterer who has previously abandoned attachment are the Path of Seeing, and the three Stream-enterers who are gradual are the Path of Meditation. Whatever fruit one abides in, it is pervaded by having attained the Path of Meditation, because the sixteenth moment is the Path of Meditation. According to the Compendium of Topics, the first Stream-enterer also has the Path of Application, and the other Stream-enterers are the same. In terms of fruit, there are two fruits of sudden transcendence, and the Stream-enterer also has the Path of Seeing, because the sixteenth moment is the Path of Seeing. The other fruits are the same. The second is: the Sangha of the fruit of sudden transcendence, the fruit of gradualness, and the abandonment of what is to be abandoned at once. In the former, from the upper and lower Compendium of Knowledge, most are those who have previously abandoned attachment, and those who have generated attachment to desire and those who have previously abandoned attachment, because of this expression, it is established here as sudden transcendence, although there is no direct establishment of terms, but in reality it can be understood, because these two (sudden transcendence and gradualness) manifest the fruit in different ways, so they are also distinguished. Gradualness is the fruit of gradualness, so this becomes the fruit of sudden transcendence. Therefore, if it is expressed as previously abandoning attachment, then that is the way of abandoning what is to be abandoned, and the later naming is established from the different ways of obtaining the fruit. Although the latter two are not expressed as the gradual path and the one-time path, it seems that they have not completely understood the meaning of these expressions. Does the path refer to the five paths such as the Path of Accumulation? Or does application refer to which of the Path of No Interruption, the Path of Liberation, or the Special Path? In any case, apart from gradual generation, one-time

How could it arise all at once? Therefore, regarding what is to be abandoned, there are two types: gradual abandonment and immediate abandonment. Thus, it should be termed 'what is to be abandoned, immediate abandonment.' By analogy, the Transcender is also gradual, because what is to be abandoned is abandoned gradually. Therefore, for the gradual one, there are two types: the gradual fruit by analogy to the fruit of the Transcender, and the gradual abandonment by analogy to the immediate abandonment. Here, it is called the ultimate fruit, because it is ultimately attained, hence the saying. In the commentary 'Explanation of Meaning,' it says: 'Because the four fruits are ultimately attained, hence the saying.' The third part has three points: Where are the Transcender, the Gradual, and the Immediate placed? The first point is: For the Transcender, the four abodes of the two intermediate fruits are possible, but others are not. Among them, the reason why the Stream-enterer is impossible is twofold. From the perspective of how the fruit is manifested, the reason for impossibility is: If it is necessary to abandon the previous fruit and manifest the subsequent fruit, then there can be no fruit before the Stream-enterer. From the perspective of abandonment, the reason for impossibility is: If the main part of what is to be abandoned by any fruit must be abandoned before the path of seeing, then this is impossible for the Stream-enterer. Because for the Stream-enterer, although one to five of what is to be abandoned by meditation have been abandoned, the main part of what is to be abandoned is what is to be abandoned by seeing, and this cannot be completely abandoned before the path of seeing, because there is also what is to be abandoned by seeing at the peak of existence. By this reasoning, it should also be understood that the Arhat is impossible. Therefore, in the connection of the completed explanation of the Sangha of the Transcender, it is usually the case that those who are free from desire from actions and desires are determined to be the individuals who necessarily enter, and like this, the two intermediate fruits are mentioned, but the Stream-enterer is not mentioned. This is because at that time, the explanation of the Stream-enterer refers to the two entrants who have previously abandoned desire, and the two entrants of the Stream-enterer, whose realization is the same, and the three fruit positions are also the same as obtaining the sixteenth moment for the first time, and it should be understood that this was mentioned incidentally in consideration of this. Similarly, in the Compendium, the explanation of the Stream-enterer in the case of the Transcender is also explained because it is desired to investigate the situation where the fruit is obtained simultaneously with the sixteenth moment, and not because it is the Transcender.
