It is not. Second, it is established in all eight abodes. Third, it is said in the root text and commentary of the Abhidharmakosha that the stream-enterer and Arhat fruits are established in two fruit positions. If we also include the initial stream-entry and Arhat stream-entry, it seems that they can barely be combined. The reason why the two intermediate fruits do not occur is that since the higher realms' objects of abandonment by meditation have been abandoned, it is impossible to return. This (referring to the sudden enlightenment) is because all the objects of abandonment by meditation of the three realms are abandoned simultaneously. Similarly, the non-returner is also impossible because if the ninth of the desire realm is abandoned, then the ninth of the peak of existence is also abandoned, and thus one becomes an Arhat. Some say that something like a Pratyekabuddha rhinoceros horn is a sudden enlightenment, which is very unreasonable. If that were the case, one would have to admit that an ordinary person is free from attachment from the three realms. Someone like a rhinoceros horn generates the path of application based on the fourth dhyana. If one obtains the actual state of dhyana, one must also abandon the ninth object of abandonment by meditation of the desire realm, so one must abandon the ninth of the three realms. Therefore, if a sudden enlightener later becomes a Pratyekabuddha, then someone like a rhinoceros horn must be a sudden enlightener, which is necessarily contradictory. The fourth aspect has three points: By what path are those fruits obtained? At what time are they obtained? And relying on what ground are they obtained? The first point is: If the first and last fruits are the paths by which they are actually obtained, then they must be pervaded by the immediate path. In order, the path is the subsequent knowledge and the objects of abandonment by meditation of the peak of existence.
