Dharma and sentient beings, as well as the activities of the Buddhas, in order to attain equality of mind in the supreme, therefore, their great joy is particularly excellent. Thus it is said. Among them, the first line of the first verse refers to receiving the sacred teachings; the second line refers to accomplishing the supreme cause; and the third line refers to showing the difference of realizing the supreme understanding. These three differences show that the generation of bodhicitta is the ultimate truth. Moreover, by attaining the Joyful Ground, it shows the cause of its great joy being particularly excellent. Among them, those who have equanimity towards the Dharma, sentient beings, the Buddha, and the activities of sentient beings, are those who gradually realize the absence of self in phenomena, the equality of self and others, the inseparability of the Buddha and one's own Dharmadhatu, and the desire to eliminate the suffering of others as if it were one's own suffering. The Middle Stages of Meditation also explain the difference between conventional and ultimate minds, as it says: Bodhicitta is of two types: conventional and ultimate. Among them, the conventional is the initial generation of the mind that aspires to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, vowing to liberate all sentient beings with compassion, and thinking, 'May I become a Buddha for the benefit of beings.' Furthermore, according to the ritual described in the chapter on ethics, it should be generated from a wise person who abides in the vows of a Bodhisattva. Having thus generated the conventional bodhicitta, one should strive to generate the ultimate bodhicitta. The ultimate bodhicitta is that which transcends the world, is free from all elaborations, is extremely clear, is the object of ultimate reality, is immaculate, unwavering, and unmoving like the flame of a lamp in the absence of wind. Its accomplishment comes from constantly and respectfully cultivating the yoga of calm abiding and insight for a long time. Vimalamitra's Stages of Meditation also explains it in the same way. Third, the Garland of Jewels says: The generation of bodhicitta on the grounds, aspiration and higher intention, different maturation and others, thus abandoning all obscurations. Thus it is said. Among them, on the ground of aspiring conduct, arising from aspiration, and the ground and

The seventh bhumi has pure intention, the eighth bhumi and the other three have vipaka, and the Buddha bhumi has the bodhicitta that abandons the obscurations. In the Great Commentary, it says: Although it is initially placed on the four parts of the decisive division, it is better to start from the accumulation path. Here, some people think that the Buddha does not have bodhicitta, because if he did, it should be like a cloud, but it is not, because the Ratnagotravibhāga says: The bodhicitta of the sons of the Buddhas is shown to be like a cloud. If you say that, there is no fault, because the sons of the Buddhas have it, it does not mean that the Buddha does not have it. It can also be understood as the bodhicitta that the sons of the Buddhas will obtain, and if it is not so, it contradicts the previous boundaries of the bhumis, and it is also too much to not have ultimate bodhicitta. If so, the Buddha will have desire, and if so, it is a conceptual thought, so it is not reasonable, if you say that, there is no fault. In the Candrapradīpa Sūtra, it says: Then, how does the mind that runs together with the conceptual thought of seeking meaning arise for the Bhagavan? It is true that seeking meaning is the dharma of the agent who seeks meaning, just like the previous different minds. The meaning to be sought and the meaning to be desired are the dharma of karma, that is, the most excellent mind. Therefore, the Bhagavan does not have the conceptual thought of the mind that seeks meaning. It is said that although there is no mind with conceptual thought that seeks meaning, there is a mind without conceptual thought that seeks meaning. Or, aspiration is conceptual thought on the path of learning, but it is non-conceptual thought on the Buddha bhumi, as it says in the same text: Or, how is it that the great compassion that desires to be free from suffering is the nature of conceptual thought, this was before, but later the Tathagata has no conceptual thought, so there is no fault in wanting to be perfectly complete enlightenment in this way. The fourth is that after placing all sentient beings in the Buddha bhumi, one wants to become a Buddha oneself, like a shepherd, and that one and all other sentient beings become Buddhas at the same time, like a ferryman, and that after one becomes a Buddha, others are liberated, like a king, it is said that there are three kinds of bodhicitta. Regarding this meaning, the Bhagavan thinks like this: If it is like the first two, then they have promised the impossible and will know the regression.
