When doing so, when establishing the definition of direct perception, it is said that "direct perception is free from conceptualization and non-deceptive," where the meaning of "non-deceptive" is non-deceptive. Like eye consciousness that has already been established as correct consciousness, when direct perception appears in that aspect, saying "whatever correct consciousness is both free from conceptualization and is correct consciousness" is meaningless. That is the meaning. Then, in order to show that these occasions cannot be jointly explained with the Mind-Only school, it is said in the Tattvasamgraha: If the treatises of the Yogacara school are also followed in everything, then the inference itself that is accepted by the teacher is inverted. It is also said: Why is it not followed because it arises from the power of the object and is therefore non-conceptual? This is to say that inference is only mistaken on the object of apprehension, and that sense direct perception arises from the power of the object of apprehension, therefore establishing it as free from conceptualization, etc., are meanings that cannot be combined with the Mind-Only school. Then, would it be thought that the definition of direct perception of the Mind-Only school is not shown at any time? In order to dispel that doubt, it is said in the Tattvasamgraha: Therefore, only when speaking of the Mind-Only school, the teacher sees that the distinction is made by whether the habitual imprint is stable or unstable. And here it is said "if there is no object, it does not arise," etc., therefore it is accepting the nature of external objects. Therefore, what was said before is the meaning of non-deception. This is to say that on the non-conceptual, the distinction of whether it is direct perception or not is explained by the difference between stable and unstable habitual imprints, therefore the definition of direct perception of the Mind-Only school is known. Non-conceptual and non-deceptive is the definition made from the aspect of accepting external objects. In this way, in the case of the Sutra school, consciousness that is non-conceptual and non-deceptive is the definition of direct perception, and in the case of the Mind-Only school, consciousness that is non-conceptual and arises from stable habitual imprints is the definition of direct perception. This commentary explains this in detail, and this point seems very important. Because Tibetan scholars also believe that this definition must be accepted in the case of both the Abhidharma and Mind-Only schools, some explain the meaning of "non-deceptive" as non-deceptive on the object of entry, and some according to the view of the Mind-Only school.

Also, because it is seen that there are many ways of explaining, whatever is said is fine, such as not mistaking the appearing object of the sense consciousness, etc. The fourth point is from the Hetubindu: Some say that the consciousness of two moons, etc.... etc., some commentators, in order to refute that the consciousness of two moons, etc., is direct perception, think that it is not necessary to say that it is not mistaken, because it is a valid means of cognition that does not deceive in some aspects; and Dignāga did not mention non-mistakenness in the definition of direct perception, but said: 'Direct perception is free from conceptualization.' Even if it is said that non-deception is to be understood as the measure of all valid objects, it is not necessary to say non-deception, because there is no retrospective consciousness that does not deceive in all the nature of things. After refuting this view, if that is the case, then according to your view, the conceptualization of a child should not have a consciousness that does not deceive in any one of the divided parts, therefore it is unreasonable that Master Dignāga only said that direct perception and inference are valid means of cognition, which can be understood from the explanation itself. The following is the doubt that sense consciousness becomes non-direct perception because it mistakes the nature of the object: From the Hetubindu: If holding contradictory natures is mistaken, therefore it will not be a valid means of cognition, then the appearance of blue, etc., should also become mistaken, because holding unmixed atoms as mixed natures is contradictory. The meaning of this is: If holding the opposite of the state of affairs is mistaken, therefore it cannot be a valid direct perception, then the sense consciousness holding blue should become mistaken, because the blue atoms are unmixed and exist separately, but are held to be mixed. If you admit this, then it becomes non-direct perception. How should this be answered by admitting the external view? From the Hetubindu: It is said: Here, for the time being, from the point of view of the external object, consciousness is holding the object, and it is admitted that the atoms do not have contradictions caused by different directions, and then the definition is stated. The meaning of this is: Blue is coarse and has contradictory properties of different parts, but the eye consciousness holding blue does not need to show the contradiction that blue is coarse and has parts.
