Moreover, there are many contradictions with later scriptures such as "I did not do it, others did not do it." In this regard, speaking from a rational perspective, if a cause established by its own nature relies on other causes, thereby producing another effect established by its own nature, then, if this is the case, then from the dispelling, blazing flame, there would also arise the dispelled, thick darkness. Furthermore, all things that are causes and non-causes would also give rise to all things that are effects and non-effects. Why? Because for all things that do not produce that effect, there are two notions of cause and effect, and also, the otherness established by its own nature is the same. These are two very excessive inferences based on reasons admitted by others. If we explain these two excessive inferences, just as the seed that produces rice, in relation to its own fruit, the rice sprout, the otherness established by its own nature is the same. The fire and coal that do not produce the rice sprout, as well as barley seeds, etc., in relation to the rice sprout, the otherness established by its own nature is the view of those who advocate other-arising. If it is thought that these two ways of otherness are the same, then, just as the rice seed becomes other, thereby producing the rice sprout, from fire and coal, etc., the rice sprout must also arise. Also, just as the rice sprout becomes other, arising from the rice seed, the pot and blanket, etc., would also arise from the rice seed. This is making the same. This is stated in the Root Wisdom: If cause and effect are other, it will never be reasonable. If cause and effect are other, cause and non-cause will become the same. This is the reasoning for the very excessive inferences spoken to those who advocate other-arising. The throwing of refutations against both excessive inferences has been explained in the commentary. The second part is divided into two points: the reason for the occurrence of very excessive inferences for other-arising; admitting that refuting from excessive inferences is not contradictory. The first point is: here, for those who admit other-arising, the reason for the fault of the occurrence of very excessive inferences. Some Tibetans say that cause and effect are pervaded by before and after, and for others, it must be the key point of being simultaneous. This statement is very unreasonable, and all the faults of such prohibition will equally apply to oneself.

Furthermore, if someone refutes by saying, "There is no commitment to that," then the effort to seek the reason is meaningless. Also, many Tibetan logicians, when proving that where there is special smoke, there is fire, and that what is made is impermanent, they think that they are proving that it is not mistaken in all times and places. When proving this, they first prove it on a single temporary thing like a wall and a vase, and then with the reason that these two things and the pervasion in other times and places have the same attribute, they want to prove that these two pervasions are not mistaken in all times and places. If that is the case, then with a sign that is only similar, it will cause a very large overreach, and this is like a one-way attack. That's what they say. This is also a statement that does not understand the meaning of the scriptures and does not have a clear understanding of the application of logic. Because special smoke and what is made, if they are not distinguished by time and place, but are generally proven not to contradict fire and impermanence, even if the existence of fire and the nature of impermanence are reversed, the two that are presented as signs can well eliminate the doubt of whether it is possible not to regress. Even if these two dharmas are reversed in cause and effect, there are many cases where they are only other, so how can they have the opportunity to be similar? Therefore, the name "attack" itself clearly shows that this is a refutation that does not understand reason, and it has already been explained in detail elsewhere. So, what is this like? The Clear Words says, "Only with these conditions do we commit to the establishment of the conventional, but not through committing to the four directions, because that would lead to things having their own nature, and that is also unreasonable. If we only commit to these conditions, then because cause and effect are interdependent, there is no self-establishment, so things will not appear to have their own nature." Here, it distinguishes between whether or not to commit to self-generation, and the reason for these two distinctions is that if we commit to the generation of the four directions, then we must say that it has its own nature. Therefore, if we commit to other-generation, we must commit to self-nature generation; if we only commit to dependent origination, then we do not need to commit to self-nature generation, which has been clearly stated. In that case, other-generation
