As it is said. Therefore, yogis should not be attached to body, life, gain, respect, discipline, or even food and drink. They should make great effort like preventing fire from burning their body and head, and perform countless austerities. Rely on a qualified Mahayana master, practice profound instructions, realize the five aggregates are without inherent existence, and eliminate self-grasping. When self-grasping ceases, the aggregate of formations ceases. When that ceases, the aggregate of consciousness ceases. When that ceases, name and form cease. When that ceases, the sense bases cease. When that ceases, contact ceases. When that ceases, feeling ceases. When that ceases, craving ceases. When that ceases, grasping ceases. When that ceases, becoming ceases. When that ceases, birth ceases. When that ceases, aging and death cease. Thus, all suffering with its causes arises from self-grasping, and all sources of benefit and happiness come from the wisdom of realizing selflessness. Know these things. These are to contemplate the arising and ceasing of dependent origination. Second, the main part has two distinctions: first, explaining what to learn, and second, explaining the order of practice. First, the dwelling should avoid being too drowsy in the lower part and too agitated in the upper part. It should be like a middle room with a roof, where it is neither too hot nor too cold. Food and drink should also be moderate. Abandon all obstacles to virtuous practice, such as bad friends, and prepare all favorable conditions such as food and clothing. Reside in practice, not being distracted by sentient beings, and not needing to do anything else, but focusing solely on virtuous practice. Second, there are two: explaining calm abiding and insight. The first is: The nature of body, speech, and mind, the profound instructions, I, a fortunate one, practice for enlightenment, abide in samadhi. This is what is said. There are two aspects to this: explaining the nature of calm abiding, and then recognizing the experiences that arise from practice. The first has three: relying on the nature of body, the nature of speech, and the nature of mind to cultivate samadhi.

O! Here are the three practices that precede all practices: visualizing one's own body as the deity of the Yidam; visualizing the Lama in any of the three places; and cultivating loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment. I must ensure that all sentient beings, equal to the extent of space, attain the state of perfect Buddhahood. For that purpose, I shall practice such profound path instructions. One should cultivate the mind of enlightenment. There are three aspects to the nature of the body: meditating based on the nature of the five families, the nature of the three families, and the nature of one family. First, visualize oneself as Manjushri with a white body. On its crown, visualize the Lama as the embodiment of white Vairochana. At its heart, on a lunar disc, visualize a white OM Directly in front of one's brow, in the sky, on a lunar disc, visualize a blue Akshobhya, one cubit or one span high. All three have one face and two arms, making the gesture of meditative equipoise, holding an Utpala flower between the thumb and forefinger, with a vajra and bell on top of the open flower next to the ears. Seated in the vajra posture. Adorned with silk and precious jewels. Peaceful, smiling, with a radiant and glorious body. Meditate on it as appearance without inherent existence, like a reflection in a mirror. Directly in front of the tip of one's nose, draw or meditate on a white dot on the ground, about the size of a pea, or slightly larger. With both legs in the vajra posture and both hands in meditative equipoise. Keep the spine straight. Focus the eyes on the tip of the nose. Bend the neck slightly. Touch the tip of the tongue to the palate. Straighten the arms and attach them to the body. Without any discrimination of good or bad regarding the actions of the three times—past, future, and present—focus the mind on either the brow or the heart of the Yidam in front, or on the OM (藏文:ༀ,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) at the heart of the Lama, and on the dot directly in front of the tip of the nose, alternately shifting the focus and remaining concentrated. Even if there is pain in the legs, heat in the eyes, tears flowing, etc., do not change the posture of the body, do not touch, etc., but leave it as it is, and it will be beneficial. If one focuses on a single object for a long time, it is difficult to cut through thoughts. Even if one focuses on a single object for a long time, recite the mani mantra one hundred and eight times.
