I, in the realm, the appearance of dualistic grasping, and the self-awareness experienced before the appearance of the realm, and the conditions of object and subject established by the two, are also refuted in conventional truth, so self-awareness is also not accepted. The reason for accepting self-awareness is clear. When the teacher Yeshe Nyingpo explained the Middle Way, he did not deny that things exist by their own characteristics in conventional truth, and this is in accordance with the tenets of externalists. Thirdly, what reasoning does the teacher mainly use to refute things that exist ultimately? Except for a few refutations using refutation reasons, most are refuted by pointing out contradictions. Furthermore, considering the easy example of the subject and the predicate following each other, such as "The eye does not truly see form, because it is a sense organ, like the ear sense organ," and "The earth element is not truly the nature of solidity, because it is an element, like water," and so on, these kinds of analogies are used to establish the point. This mainly uses the reasoning from the treatises of the noble father and sons, which frequently make equal advances with similar reasons. If solidity and the nature of seeing form were established in ultimate truth, then being the same as elements, there should be no difference between solidity and non-solidity, and being the same as sense organs, there should be no difference between seeing form and not seeing form. The teacher thought in this way, because there is no reasoning to establish those differences. Thus, if something exists ultimately, then as it appears, it is not established by the imputation of the mind, but exists by the actual existence of the thing itself. If so, it would become independent, and would not depend on anything else. Therefore, there is no valid cognition that can distinguish those differences. For example, if smoke arises without depending on a cause, then it would either depend on everything, or it would not depend on fire and would scatter ashes. Therefore, if self-existence is ultimate, then apart from the nature of causes and conditions and combination, there must be a self-nature that is independent and autonomous. Then the elements and what arises from them are a combination of eight substances, and mental events and mental factors would not exist without each other. All things also arise from the collection of their own causes and conditions, and without that, there would be nothing at all.

Therefore, it explains the absence of true existence and substantial existence. It also shows that there is no self-nature apart from the aggregate, and it also shows that if it exists in the ultimate sense, it must exist as one, and it shows that the aspect of harming it is the majority. Unlike other teachers, it is not the majority to refute by examining one and many on parts and wholes. If one understands well the key points of reasoning put forward by the great followers of the Noble Ones, then the wisdom of reasoning will greatly increase, so for this school, if it exists in the ultimate sense, one should also learn well the reasoning of the way of treating equally with the same reasons. The second part has four points: how to explain the existence or non-existence of self-nature in persons and dharmas in the ultimate sense; how to explain the existence or non-existence of external objects in conventional terms; how to explain the meaning of the Sutra Unraveling of Intent; and to point out what the main reasoning for refuting ultimate existence is directed at. The first point is: In the Sutra Unraveling of Intent, as it is said, "self-nature without self-nature" and "birth without self-nature," as in the way of skillful discernment, it is explained in the Ornament of the Middle Way, which is also the view of Shantarakshita, so in conventional terms, it is admitted that self-nature is established by its own characteristics. It can also be understood by commonly admitting the reasoning of establishing cause and effect, such as the Treasury of Valid Cognition. The second point is, in conventional terms, do external objects exist or not? On this, the Lamp of Wisdom says: "If one first takes only consciousness and later wants to completely abandon it, it is better to avoid touching it from the beginning, because washing after being contaminated by mud is not as good as not touching it. Just as one realizes that external objects have no self-nature, consciousness can also realize no-self and no-birth." Thus, in the commentary, some Yogacharas explain that when first entering the conventional truth, they refute external objects and admit only consciousness, and later, when they are to realize the ultimate truth, they must also abandon only consciousness. This is the school they advocate. It is better to show no truth from the beginning than to first let consciousness grasp as true and then refute its truth, because just as things have no truth, consciousness can also easily realize no truth, it seems to be saying.
