Offering is the complete offering. When they make offerings, even if they make a small offering to any of the Three Jewels, immeasurable fruits will arise, with six thoughts: thinking that the field of merit is unsurpassed; thinking that the benefit is unsurpassed; thinking that it is the most excellent of all sentient beings; thinking that it is as rare as the udumbara flower; thinking that it is the only one that appears in the three thousand great thousand worlds, and is unique; thinking that it is the basis of all worldly and transworldly perfections, and then making offerings. These are written as they appear in the Bodhisattva-bhumi. At ordinary times, one should do as much as possible, and on auspicious days and festivals, one should make some good offerings according to one's ability. Furthermore, since food and drink must be taken regularly, at that time, even if one does not interrupt the offering with the essence of those foods, one can complete many accumulations with little effort, so one should offer from the bottom of one's heart the essence of everything one enjoys, starting with water. That is not like the blue part of curd and the yellow part of leaves, but one should start with the best part. The sayings of Sharawa say that if you offer the best tea, it is not like everyone is dusting. For example, just as one cannot bear to leave a very fertile field uncultivated when it is time to sow seeds, so too, for this sacred field that produces all the happiness of this life and the next, it is enough to sow seeds of happiness in all four seasons without interruption, and also to plow the field of merit with the plow of faith. As the sutra says, it is a great pity if one cannot do this. Therefore, in "Praise of the Praiseworthy" it says: Fields like you do not exist in the three realms, you are the most excellent of the places of giving, you are the pure one who makes the rows pure. Just as the sky has no end, so too, there is no end to the ripening of good and harm done to you. Thus it is said. This supreme field does not even have the slightest resemblance to an ordinary field. We are not doing well, so we should strive to offer to the Three Jewels at all times. If we do so, we can accumulate virtue in the sacred field.

Due to the power of diligence, the power of wisdom increases day by day for the stages of the path, so that when listening, one can grasp the words, when thinking, one can understand the meaning, and when practicing, one can generate it in the continuum. When the power of wisdom is very weak, relying on the power of the field is the oral instruction. Just as the glorious Makhol said, "Composing poetry has great fortune, my wisdom relies on you, like a river in summer, even if it is small, it will grow rapidly." Just like she said. Offering should not be attached to material things, but to one's own faith, just as it is said. If there is faith, even a mandala, water, and offerings that are not grasped in the mind are enough to make offerings, so if there are no distractions, do so. If you have it but cannot give it away, saying, "I have no merit, I am very poor, I have no other offerings." This is what Potowa said, "Putting a little mugwort in a dirty ashtray and saying 'sandalwood, camphor, perfume' is like a blind man deceiving a sighted person." Phuchungwa said, "I first offered mugwort, which had a strong smell, and then I had the opportunity to offer a sweet drink of four mixtures, and now I offer agarwood and rhododendron, etc., which have a fragrant smell." If you despise small offerings and do not offer them, you will become like a poor person, and if you work hard from a small beginning, you will get better and better, so you should learn from his behavior. It is said that he once mixed incense with twenty-two taels of gold. Those great Bodhisattvas who have dominion over resources emanate countless bodies, and each body emanates hundreds of thousands of hands, etc., going to all the Buddha-fields and making offerings to the Buddhas for countless eons. Those who think that their merits have appeared and are content with a little achievement, saying "I do not want to achieve enlightenment like that," are talking nonsense with very little knowledge of the history of the Dharma. Therefore, the Cloud of Jewels Sutra says, "Listen to the great offerings and services mentioned in the sutras, and dedicate them from the bottom of your heart with the supreme intention to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas." Do as it says. With compassionate remembrance, let other beings also rejoice in such actions, and let other beings also take refuge as much as they can.
