Among giving, the giving of Dharma and the practice of offering to the Buddha are far superior to material giving and offering. From this, one should understand other situations as well. In terms of the power of intention, it is said that a Bodhisattva, with a mind inseparable from omniscience, discarding just a single flower, accumulates more merit than if all beings in the three thousand worlds were to individually build stupas as large as Mount Meru and attend to them in every way for countless eons. Similarly, the differences in intention with regard to the superiority or inferiority of what is sought, and with regard to benefiting oneself and others, should be understood in terms of the intensity, duration, and so on of the intention. Regarding misdeeds, the stronger and more prolonged the afflicted intention, the greater the power. Among these, anger is particularly powerful. The Bodhicaryāvatāra states: "The merit of giving, worshipping the Sugatas, and all other virtuous deeds accumulated over a thousand eons, a single instance of anger destroys." Furthermore, being angry with those who practice similarly to Brahma, and even more so with a Bodhisattva, is extremely grave. The Samādhirāja Sūtra states: "If one harbors harmful thoughts towards another, neither discipline nor learning can save them. Neither meditation nor solitary retreat can save them. Neither giving nor worshipping the Buddha can save them." The Bodhicaryāvatāra also states: "If one generates ill will towards such a Bodhisattva, a benefactor, the Thus Gone One has said that for as many eons as the number of ill thoughts generated, one will dwell in hell." Third, regarding the results of these, there are three. The result of complete maturation is that each of the ten paths of action depends on the three poisons in small, medium, and large degrees, thus there are three of each. Among these, each of the ten great deeds such as killing leads to hell, each of the ten medium deeds leads to the preta realm, and each of the ten small deeds leads to rebirth as an animal, as stated in the Matters of the Basis. However, the Daśabhūmika Sūtra states that the results of the medium and small deeds are reversed. The result corresponding to the cause is that even if one is born as a human from the lower realms, one will suffer in sequence from a short life, lack of resources, and

Not guarding one's wife, as well as, receiving much slander, being separated from friends, hearing unpleasant sounds, not listening to others' words, and having a strong prevalence of the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. In the chapter of the Truthful One and the Sutra of the Ten Grounds, two results are spoken for each of these. If one is born as a human, one will be short-lived and have many illnesses, have little enjoyment and share enjoyment with others, have servants who are not obedient or unreliable, have a wife with rivals, receive much slander and be deceived by others, have a retinue that is not harmonious, hear evil and unpleasant sounds, turn into words of strife, have disrespectful words or words that are not worth listening to, and turn into uncertain arrogance, have great desire and be insatiable, seek what is unhelpful or not seek what is helpful, do harm to others or be harmed by others, and become a person with wrong views and deceit. The previous lamas consider that even if one is born as a human, one will be fond of killing and other evil deeds, which is the result of a cause in common, and that experiencing the former is the result of a cause in common. The dominant result or the result of power is: due to killing, the food, medicine, fruits, etc. of the outer container world become weak, slow, have little ability and strength, are difficult to digest and cause diseases, leading most sentient beings to die before their lifespan is exhausted. Due to taking what is not given, fruits are scarce, fruits are not abundant, fruits are altered, fruits are blind, there are severe droughts and floods, fruits are dried up and disappear. Due to sexual misconduct, there is a large amount of excrement, urine, mud, filth, impurity, and foul odor, which is disgusting and unpleasant. Due to lying, agriculture and shipping businesses will not prosper, will not be harmonious, and will mostly be deceptive and full of factors of fear and terror. Due to divisive speech, the land is uneven, high and low, difficult to walk on, and full of factors of fear and terror. Due to harsh speech, the land has many stumps, thorns, stones, rubble, and gravel, is rough and not smooth, and the water flows...

And places without lakes and ponds, dry lands and salt marshes, desolate tombs and base, sinful lands, and places full of many sources of terror. The result of coarse speech: fruit trees do not bear fruit, or bear fruit out of season, or do not bear fruit in season, or unripe fruit appears ripe, roots are unstable, cannot last long, pleasant parks or forests or ponds are not many, and places full of many sources of terror. The result of covetousness: all perfect things decline and decrease every year, every season, every month, every day, and do not increase. The result of malice: plagues and disasters, infectious diseases and conflicts, and more disturbances than conflicts from other armies, lions and tigers, etc., venomous snakes and scorpions, and the fire of rakshasas, malicious yakshas and robbers, etc., are numerous. The result of wrong views: in the container world, the best origins and main things will disappear, and impure and painful things will appear very clean and happy, becoming a situation where there is nowhere to go, nowhere to save, and no refuge. The contemplation of white karma and its result is divided into two parts: white karma and its result. The first part is: for killing, taking what is not given, and sexual misconduct, with the thought of faults, with a virtuous mind, thereby correctly abstaining from these actions, and making the effort to abstain, and the bodily action of ultimately completing the abstinence. Similarly, the four of speech and the three of mind should also be applied in this way, the difference being that they are called the actions of speech and the actions of mind. As it is said in the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, the basis, thought, effort, and ultimate completion should each be appropriately combined. For example, taking the path of abandoning killing as an example, the basis is other sentient beings. The thought is wanting to abandon after seeing the faults. The effort is the action of correctly abstaining from killing. The ultimate completion is the bodily action of completely accomplishing the abstinence. In this way, other paths should also be understood. There are three kinds of results: the Vipaka-phala is that, through small, medium, and great virtuous actions, one is born as a human, a desire realm god, and a god of the form and formless realms. The result corresponding to the cause and the Adhipati-phala are the opposite of non-virtuous actions, and should be applied in this way. In the Dasabhumika Sutra, it says: These ten...
