First, one must completely purify the precepts. Also, generate the power of pure morality. (Thus it is said) If one's morality is corrupted, one cannot accomplish one's own benefit, then how can one have the power to accomplish the benefit of others? Therefore, in order to strive to accomplish the benefit of others, one should not relax one's respect for this. (Thus it is said) Therefore, the complete purity of morality also depends on how one properly adopts and abandons the places that have been established. And this depends on the strength and stability of the desire to protect. By cultivating the faults of not protecting and the benefits of protecting for a long time, one should generate the desire to protect. The first point is, as it says in that very text: Therefore, one should see the unpleasant fears, and even the smallest thing that should be abandoned, one should completely abandon. As it says, fearing the faults, one should strive to abandon even the smallest sin. That is, one should contemplate the faults of the ten non-virtues, which are the grossest opposites of morality, as previously explained. The benefits are, as has been said before. What the glorious hero said is, as it says in that very text: Divine objects, joys, human enjoyments, supreme bliss, supreme flavors, the perfections of the gods. What is so amazing that comes from morality? Look, all the Buddha's teachings come from that. As it says. Furthermore, relying on this, the continuum becomes more and more special, becoming the same as the great bodhisattvas who have compassion, obtaining the pure wisdom that has abandoned all the seeds of misconduct, other ornaments, if worn by someone who is very young or very old, will become a place of ridicule and will not be beautiful, but the ornament of morality, no matter who possesses it, whether old or young, will make everyone happy, and is the supreme of ornaments. Other fragrant scents can only be carried by the wind, and cannot be carried against the wind, so they are one-sided. But the scent of the fame of morality can go in all directions. Sandalwood and other perfumes that relieve heat are contrary to the ordained, but the perfume that protects against the heat of afflictions is not contrary to the ordained and is compatible. Merely having the appearance of being ordained is similar, but those who possess the wealth of morality will become more excellent than others. As it says in that very text: Morality is the path to obtain excellence, compassionate
