The actual practice of meditation. Regarding the tradition of the root guru being inseparable from Vajradhara, how does one perform the emanation and absorption of light rays? I ask about these. Furthermore, since most contemporary meditators seem to treat the meditation on leisure and fortune and impermanence as easy teachings, I ask this regarding that: Generally, the purpose of all virtuous practices is to subdue the mind and transcend samsara to attain perfect Buddhahood, there is no other choice. What are the unique and great results of meditating on these two respectively in their own places? If meditating on leisure and fortune, what are the stages of leisure and the stages of fortune? How does one meditate on the continuum? How does one meditate on impermanence without merely talking about it, but actually meditating on it in the mind? How does the sharpest object of focus that greatly influences the continuum appear in the words of the Victorious Ones? Furthermore, if a genuine experience does not arise from meditating on the suffering of the lower realms, it is said that there cannot be a correct refuge. How many people can acknowledge that such a thing exists? If it does not exist, what is the reason for that? Other than verbally reciting the refuge, when meditating in the mind, what is the key to the method of meditation? When meditating in the mind, how does one visualize the Three Jewels? Other than these three supports of the Jewels that appear to our five senses, do we visualize something else in the mind? Are we visualizing these? If it is the former, how do we meditate in the mind? By meditating on that, how do we ensure that our devotion to these does not diminish? If it is the latter, then what are the actual Three Jewels? What is the essence of refuge, the Itipa (Tibetan transliteration)? To take refuge without understanding these is like a fire that cannot burn. Furthermore, what is the most important and crucial recognition for confessing sins? Also, does the practice of mixing good and bad deeds of similar strength prevent the ripening of negative karma through the power of all virtuous deeds? If so, then why can't the negative deeds also destroy the virtuous deeds? Or, can negative deeds also destroy virtuous deeds? As it says in the Bodhicharyavatara: Aeon.

The merit accumulated in thousands of kalpas, such as offering alms and worshipping the Sugatas, all such virtuous deeds are destroyed by a single instance of anger. If that is the case, then if such a person's good deeds are destroyed by sin, it becomes impossible for them to bear fruit. Then, can it be admitted that the person's doing good is a mistake? Or is it thought that good and evil are mixed up, causing the fruits of both to not arise? If so, then if barley and beans are sown together in the same field, will the fruits of both not arise because they are mixed up? Or can it be admitted that barley is stronger and destroys the beans, causing the fruit of the beans not to arise? If that is the analogy, then the fruits of both will ripen separately, and neither will harm the other. If so, then good will not harm evil either. Then, what is the meaning of saying that by relying on good, all the karmic obscurations of the five heinous crimes are completely purified? If that statement is true, then what is the meaning of that statement in the Bodhicharyavatara? The meaning of that statement in the Bodhicharyavatara is that a single moment of anger destroys all the merit accumulated over thousands of kalpas. Then, can it be admitted that all the good deeds done before a single moment of anger arises become meaningless? If it can be admitted, then nowadays a single moment of anger arises, and the possibility of it arising in the future is very high. Furthermore, all the good deeds of confessing sins that were done before are also destroyed by that single moment of anger later on, so must the sins that were purified by relying on confession also return and ripen into fruit? If there is no deep thought on these, then saying "we are cause and effect" is just done with faith. In short, contemplating the suffering of the lower realms, taking refuge, karma and its effects, confessing sins, etc., nowadays some practitioners seem to regard these as easy practices, but in the mind of a person like me who is lacking in intelligence and effort, and has low experience and realization, these still seem very important and difficult. As exemplified by this, there are many other things, but I have not written them down for fear of being verbose. In general, all the instructions spoken by the Victorious Ones do not lack the inclusion of view, meditation, and conduct, so practitioners should not err.
