residing in the realms of the world, manifest prostrations in the three times. This means that there are three types of empowerment: the empowerment that ripens the continuum, the empowerment of the path of liberation, and the empowerment of the fruit of liberation. However, here, the first is taken, because it is the time for the disciple to serve and respect the teacher who has received the ripening empowerment. Supreme is utterly pure, as stated in the tantras, it is the empowerment of the vision. The Vajra Acharya who has obtained this, as stated in the fifth section of the "Ear of Whispered Instructions": "Vajra is the mind of enlightenment, and by its nature, it shows the conduct of the world and beyond the world, it is the Vajra Acharya, that is, the lama." As it is said. For that teacher, the Tathagatas residing in the ten directions, such as the east, who have gone as they are and realized the Suchness, also come to prostrate in the three periods of the day, morning, noon, and evening. What need is there to mention other disciples? This is to show the reason why one must respect the lama. This is from the seventeenth chapter of the Glorious Guhyasamaja: "Son of the lineage, in brief, In the realms of the ten directions, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who abide and protect, all come in the three times and truly worship that teacher with the offerings of all the Tathagatas, and go to that Buddha-field, uttering this Vajra speech: We are the fathers of all the Tathagatas. We are the mothers of all the Tathagatas. From here, until we are the teachers of all the Tathagatas." This is a summary of what was said, and it is also said in the tenth chapter of the Arrangement of the Net of Illusion. Chandrakirti, Cilupa, Shantipa, Vimalamitra, and many other wise and accomplished ones have also made literal explanations of this, and the views of the author of the Fifty Verses also seem to be consistent, so here we are following their views. If the Tathagatas also serve and respect the teacher, what need is there to mention other disciples? One should be even more respectful.

This is because it should be added as a reason for doing so. In the great commentary on the Kalachakra, for this verse of "supreme empowerment," there are two explanations, direct and indirect, and the meaning of the Tathagata is explained as other. Although these two are the same text, the occasions are different. Here, as previously stated, it should be added as a reason for the great respect for the teacher who is asked by the first student to be empowered. If the explanation of the Tathagata is changed to another, it cannot be used as that reason. In general, each vajra word of the tantra has many different explanations, so there is no contradiction. It is also not the view that the Buddhas do not deserve to prostrate to a qualified lama, because in the "Essential Offering" it says: "For the sons who possess qualities, the retinue is complete. The pure realm of one's own body is always shown. That is the lama, that is the other lama. Even immeasurable Buddhas always worship him. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in all directions always bow down to him." Also, in the "Collected Sutras," it says: "Ananda, if a Bodhisattva enters a chariot and enjoys the five desirable qualities, and there is no one else to drive the chariot, then Ananda, that Bodhisattva's chariot can also be placed on the head of the Tathagata." This is also consistent with the reasoning of quoting the "Heap of Jewels Sutra." Second, there are two ways to practice reverence: generally showing the way to serve and respect, and specifically designating it. The first is: "With utmost faith, in the three times, with mandala flowers and folded palms, serve and respect the teacher, and prostrate at his feet with the crown of your head." This means that in the three times, such as in the morning, one should serve and respect the feet of the teacher who shows the path of Vajrayana by touching them with the crown of one's head. Is it just a daily prostration? No, first offer the mandala, that is, arrange a cluster of flowers, and then prostrate with folded palms. Here, in the "Transformation Chapter," it says: "Mandala flowers, folded palms, prostrate at the feet with the crown of your head, serve and respect the teacher." It is good to say it like this. That is also excellent.
