At Varanasi, the first turning of the Dharma wheel of the four truths was taught to the five disciples and other Shravakas. At Vulture Peak Mountain, the intermediate turning of the Dharma wheel of no characteristics was taught to Brahma and other retinues of the Great Vehicle lineage. In the city of Vaishali, the final turning of the Dharma wheel of definitive meaning was taught to various types of disciples. In the context of the Fruition Secret Mantra Vehicle, it is categorized into four tantras. As stated in the Shri Chakrasamvara Tantra: "The Kriya Tantra accords with the pure Brahmin. The practice surpasses the Jewish lineage. Yoga is the assembly of the king. The basis is the people who are liberated from the beginning. It has not been shown to others. It is shown to you, beautiful one." Thus, considering the four castes, the four tantras were taught. If divided in detail, there are various viewpoints regarding the intelligence of beings, the four times, etc., but here I fear the text will be too long and omit them. Secondly, to briefly explain the establishment of the nine-yana system and the divisions of the tantras according to the Nyingma common system. As stated in the Root Tantra of Magical Manifestation: "The Vinaya, Sutra, Abhidharma, vows, practice, and accomplishment, the tantras of body, speech, and mind." After briefly stating this, it is divided in detail considering the differences in faculties. As stated in the Great Array: "The teachings for the three lesser ones are: those who grasp at characteristics are Shravakas, those with conceptualization are Pratyekabuddhas, and those with investigation are Bodhisattvas. The teachings for the three middling ones are: the extremely inferior are Kriya, the inferior are Charya, and those with consciousness are Yoga. The teachings for the three great ones are: those with great minds are Kriya, those with essential minds are Completion, and the supremely secret are Maha Ati." Thus, according to the differences in faculties, the nine-yana system is taught in detail. So, what are the differences in view, practice, and path like that? Our crown jewel, the great treasure Dharma king, the definitive omniscient Prajñārasmi, said this: First, the Shravaka Vehicle knows that all samsara is the nature of suffering, so in order to enter the supreme path of liberation, the four truths, for one's own sake, one abandons the bonds of self-grasping of the skandhas, etc., and meditates on the selflessness of the person, thus cutting off the continuum of samsara, thereby...

It is to realize Arhatship. As it is said, from the Four Noble Truths, suffering is known, the origin is abandoned, cessation is realized, and by relying on the path, the root of self and selflessness is cut off, and by meditating, the fruit is realized. Also, from the continuation of the previous one, secondly, the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle, on the basis of realizing that the aggregates and so on are without self-nature, the external objects of grasping, the coarse external phenomena, appear without attachment, like a moon in water, and by meditating on the twelve links of dependent origination in forward and reverse order, the afflictions are liberated in their own place, thereby realizing the Pratyekabuddha fruit. Both of these cultivate and familiarize themselves with the training of higher morality and the accumulation of samadhi, thus teaching both the Vinaya and Sutra Vehicles. As it is said, the Pratyekabuddha is like a rhinoceros horn, and there are two types: those who live alone and those who live in a sangha. By grasping the selflessness of phenomena, all external objects are meditated upon as being without self-nature. By grasping the selflessness of phenomena, the grasping consciousness is meditated upon as emptiness, free from the three aspects of arising, ceasing, and abiding. That is, the selflessness of the grasped and the grasper are spoken of in their respective ways, and the latter is the realization of the Mahayana. Thirdly, the Bodhisattva Vehicle, from the continuation of the previous one, realizes that all phenomena are without self-nature, and with great compassion, engages in vast activities for the benefit of others, which is the excellent principle of the two truths. That is, for those phenomena that are certain to be unfailing in cause and effect, that have characteristics, and that are capable of appearing in the realm of the mind, are the conventional truth. As it is said in the commentary on the Uttaratantra, "All truths of the path are impermanent, and all impermanent things are conventional." And, the wisdom that is in accordance with emptiness, which abides in the nature of reality, and which has the aspect of completely pacifying elaboration, is the ultimate truth. In the Two Truths it is said, "The unborn, the pacification of all elaboration, is called the ultimate truth." As it is said, all phenomena are not hidden, and one has mastery over various samadhis, therefore it is the Abhidhamma Pitaka, as it is said, summarizing the essence. Some examiners of texts criticize the view of Dzogchen, saying that it is the same as the view of Madhyamaka and Cittamatra, using empty words, which is ridiculous.
