The three activities of learned debaters and authors, focus especially on the one and only teaching. Explaining is like nectar to the ears, like the melody of the gods; fearless eloquence is like an inexhaustible river. The string of writings is an ornament adorning the beautiful palace of the Buddha's teachings; with these three, instruct others. When necessary, combine words and meanings, including refutations and answers, be skilled in establishing and refuting, and in extracting thorns. With complete combinations of words from the eight places of sound, may explaining, debating, and writing be satisfying in that way. Like a parrot's recitation, yet boasting of being learned; with hypocritical conduct, yet pretending to be a monk; with empty boasting, yet feigning to be virtuous, such a reciter is a magician of the world. In order to liberate all beings from the ocean of existence, focusing solely on the one and only teaching, with pure scriptures, listening and explaining, such a reciter is a place of offering for the gods. Contemplating only consciousness, space, and emptiness, abandoning memory, feeling, perception, and clarity, even mere quiescence is said to be the supreme of the profound path, seeing some practitioners entering with insistence. Without clear emptiness, awareness, and a clear nature, merely abiding in quiescence (like a heap of darkness) is also found among animals. All teachings devoid of the profound path, contemplation of only consciousness and space, etc., are also found in the formless gods. Merely being free from mental activity is considered the supreme of the profound path; unrelated to others, the result of meditating on that is, in eighty thousand great eons, the attainment of longevity arises. Therefore, be skilled in view, meditation, and dwelling. The path shown by the holy ones is disparaged, the methods of meditation of examination and placement are of two kinds, it is the time of combining conceptual and non-conceptual thought, in the actual practice, it is agreed to be free from mental activity. In the time of combination, it is the basis for the arising of characteristics, having determined that as the basis for examination, the liberation from the four extremes, in the time of actual practice, clear emptiness without grasping is the tradition of the previous learned ones. If in the time of actual practice (later Tibetans) there is no mental activity, then the previous examination is like falling asleep. Therefore, at that time, thinking and examining "it is emptiness," is the tradition of later learned ones. Having abandoned all that is made by conceptual thought and examination, the innate wisdom, self-luminous and clear, without fabrication and without distraction, when it shines again, looking at one's own face is the way of placement meditation.

Whatever the meditation posture may be, The essence of oneself is naturally luminous. Rising in clarity and purity, without meditation and without distraction, It is the chief of meditations of all practice lineages. Although the practice during the state of equipoise is like that, Whatever appearances arise during the post-meditation state, With the powerful recollection of dreams and illusions, If meditated well, appearance and emptiness arise inseparably. In the great bliss wheel, upon the white lotus and sun and moon, The root guru, embodying the three kayas, Vajradhara, With unwavering devotion, regarding him as the actual Buddha, Cherish the tradition of unscattered supplication. Although there are many terms for introducing the nature of mind, When gazing at the face of one's own innate wisdom, The knowing is clear and pure, the wisdom of union, In the pure Dharmakaya, make the introduction for all. The samadhi of the third and fourth dhyanas, And the four formless realms, are the peak of existence. Bliss, clarity, and non-thought are a wrong path. Know the distinction between the path and the wrong path. The body of the Buddha and the form of a flesh-eating demon, etc., Whatever appears as objects of the six senses, Whatever appears, if one well understands that mind and the nature of mind are empty, Then obstacles turn into accomplishments. Bliss, clarity, non-thought, clear perception of objects, And flying in the sky, walking on water, etc., Although many hold them as supreme, if not grasped by realization, Then various experiences are like इंद्रधनु [Tibetan: འཇའ་ཚོན།, Sanskrit: Indradhanus, Romanization: Indradhanus, Meaning: Indra's bow, rainbow]. Through the power of mantra substances, sleep, and meditation, etc., Various experiences of the wind-mind becoming disordered, Although many great meditators are satisfied with them, For the most part, there is great danger of falling into the abyss of distraction. In short, from whatever one practices, If faith and other virtues naturally increase, And attachment and other non-virtues naturally decrease, Then that Dharma is the excellent path of the Victorious Ones. In the lap of snow mountains and in the midst of tall forests, etc., In delightful places of practice, the abode of those who desire liberation, With little desire and contentment, living on alms, Wearing humble robes and tattered clothes, Not transgressing the well-spoken precepts of the Vinaya, Train from afar in the way of the Bodhisattvas. Now, take a firm hold on the view, meditation, and conduct of the previously explained tradition for this life. May the environment of realization, the practice for one's own benefit, And the connection for the benefit of others, Manifest in meaningfulness, And may one's own experiences and the instructions of others' minds, Be given to worthy beings.
