One should rely on the Mother Tantra. Thus, while teaching the truth of cessation and path as the antidote to the arising of suffering, which arises from relying on the cause of origin, it is also said in the intermediate turning of the wheel of Dharma: "There is no suffering, no origin, no cessation, no path. There is no wisdom, no attainment, and no non-attainment." How can one resolve the contradiction between these two statements of definitive meaning? In general, Dharma relies on meaning, not on words; it relies on ultimate truth, not on conventional truth; it relies on definitive meaning, not on provisional meaning; it relies on wisdom, not on consciousness. This distinction is taught by the noble Vimalakirti. Furthermore, without relying on the secret instructions of the sutras and tantras, the six extremes and four modes, like lacking the key to viewing the scriptures, one rashly engages in debate, binding oneself with various entanglements such as negation, affirmation, doubt, acceptance, and rejection. The scriptures are not a bondage. Therefore, until one attains the Dharma eye free from dust, if one measures the profound secrets of definitive meaning with the measure of presumption, one will be led to the lower realms through the path of the ninth root downfall. As stated in the noble "Condensed Collection": "Here, some foolish people, not knowing the skillful means of the Tathagata and not understanding my hidden words, say, 'This is proper, this is improper.' Such people are those who abandon the true Dharma, they are those who slander the Tathagata, therefore I say that they are hell-beings." Maitreya, in the future, in the last five hundred years, ordinary monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen who claim to be Bodhisattvas, who were formerly non-Buddhists, due to the power of their aspirations, will ordain in the well-spoken teachings and Vinaya of the Tathagata, practicing partially, clinging to relatives, attached to gain and respect, miserly with their possessions, destroying families, having ugly appearances, delighting in the inferior, being uneasy in their minds, being unknown, of low birth, completely attached to possessions, devoid of all food that is comfortable in the Dharma, extremely distant from the food of Samadhi, dwelling in deceit and deception, will speak differently.
