Pa. Do not engage in discursive thoughts, rest in equanimity. As it is said in the Guhyagarbha Tantra: From any time or direction, one cannot find the perfect Buddha. Other than the mind itself, the perfect Buddha, do not seek for another Buddha. Even if you search, the Buddhas will not find it. As it is said, this king of vehicles is far superior to others because it shows the essence of the expanse, the self-arisen wisdom of luminosity, without acceptance or rejection, and attains Buddhahood in a state free from effort. Second, the explanation of the great secret of distinction has three parts: essence, divisions, and definitive terms. First, the essence: The word Ati means excellent or extreme. Yoga means union. Thus, the Tantra of the Great Perfection of Extreme Union is the pinnacle because the self-arisen wisdom free from elaboration has no limitations or biases, and it completely fulfills the meaning of all vehicles. Why is it called the Great Perfection? Because all impure samsaric phenomena, which appear as the environment and beings, are included in the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, and all pure wisdom doors, such as views, meditations, practices, and the aspects of the vehicles, which are the manifestations of the three bases, paths, and results, are temporarily created by the mind and falsely imputed. Their essence appears as habitual confusion, seeming to be true, but in reality, their essence is not established. Therefore, they do not move from the self-arisen wisdom and are perfected in the nature of the mind. The self-arisen wisdom free from elaboration, the essence of luminosity, is emptiness, self-nature luminosity, and compassionate awareness. In its nature, all the qualities of the three bodies are perfected in the form of the five perfections, and therefore it is perfected in perfection. Similarly, all phenomena that appear and exist in this way, pure and impure, and very pure, etc., all the different appearances are united in the essence of self-awareness, bodhicitta. They arise in the beginning and abide in their nature. For example, just as limitless dream phenomena are perfected at the beginning of sleep, everything is perfected in the nature of mind, bodhicitta. Moreover, the mind is conceptual thought, arising from the alaya as the interdependent arising of the eight consciousnesses, which is the impurity to be purified. The bodhicitta, which is without birth or death, the mind itself is luminosity.
