Therefore, by practicing these, eighty great accomplished ones and others in India also attained liberation through these oral instructions. In Tibet, during the early reign of kings and ministers, many such individuals emerged and attained countless accomplishments through this method, which will be explained below. Many wise individuals have appeared in Tibet, but no one other than the Omniscient Ngakgi Wangpo has spoken with such an open mind and unbiased manner, so it is explained according to his intention. Secondly, explaining the general nature of secret mantras is divided into four points: the basis, definition, etymology, and categories of names. The first point is: the nature of clear light, the indivisible realm of body and wisdom, which is naturally pure. For this, the teachings can be summarized into four aspects: the basis to be purified, what is to be purified, what purifies, and the result of purification. Among them, the naturally pure realm and the dwelling place of the dharmadhatu, which is the nature of clear light, is the basis to be purified. Sudden obscurations of karma and afflictions, as well as all the phenomena of samsara, including the eight consciousnesses of the alaya, are the defilements to be purified. Among them, the alaya consciousness, which manifests various habitual tendencies, is the root of samsara and therefore needs to be eliminated. The alaya consciousness that abides in the meaning of reality is its own nature and therefore does not need to be eliminated. However, the alaya consciousness that is nominally designated transforms from the part of the designated name and becomes the wisdom of the dharmadhatu. For this, by bestowing the four empowering initiations that ripen, planting the seeds of the four bodies; by practicing the generation stage and completion stage that liberate, along with the newly arising qualities, all of these that are included in the wisdom path are what purify. After purifying in this way, all the substances that obscure the dharmadhatu are purified, thereby transforming into the realm of enlightenment. The spontaneously accomplished body and wisdom manifest, and the essence of fulfilling both one's own benefit and the benefit of others is the result of purifying the defilements of the realm. The second point is, as stated in the Vajrasekhara Sutra: "The nature of all mantras is the mind of all Buddhas, accomplishing the essence of dharma, being in perfect accordance with the dharmadhatu." Therefore, the dharmadhatu is naturally pure, and the secret of the mind vajra that expresses it accomplishes the essence of dharma. The third point is, Mantra (Tibetan: སྔགས།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मंत्र, Sanskrit Romanization: mantra, Chinese literal meaning: true words), mantra (Tibetan: སྔགས།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मंत्र, Sanskrit Romanization: mantra, Chinese literal meaning: true words), yana (Tibetan: ཐེག་པ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: यान, Sanskrit Romanization: yāna, Chinese literal meaning: vehicle), vehicle, that is

Due to the condition given, "མ་ལན་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: ma lan)" is the mind in the sense of holding onto the self. Due to the condition given, "ཏྲ་ལ་ཐ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: tra la tha)" is protection, that is, quick protection, meaning peaceful protection. The meaning is that the mind's consciousness quickly protects from the fears of samsara, peacefully protects, thereby establishing the sound of "གསང་སྔགས (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: secret mantra)", as stated in the later part of the Guhyasamaja Tantra: "མ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: ma) is the mind, ཏྲ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: tra) is the meaning of protection." Similarly, due to the condition given "ཡ་ལ་ཧེ་དུ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: ya la he du)", "ཧེ་དུ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: he du)" is the nature of lineage, because it desires to abide in the spontaneously accomplished ground, therefore it is a vehicle. Similarly, "ཡ་མརྒ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: ya mar ga)" is the vehicle because it knows that ལཾ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: lam) is the nature of the three kayas of union. "ཡ་མ་སྦྲ་ནི་མ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, literal meaning: ya ma sbra ni ma)" is the vehicle because the three poisons are purified without a basis in the realm of the fruit. As stated in the Vajra Dakini Ocean: "Because it thoroughly enters all the Great Vehicles, it is the Mantra Vehicle itself." The fourth is: Mantra Vehicle, Vajra Vehicle, Fruit Vehicle. If divided, there are three types, as stated in the Intent Accomplishment Tantra: "The distinctions of all mantras, should be known as three types, Vidyāmantra is the nature of method, Dharanimantra is the nature of wisdom, Secret Mantra is non-dual wisdom." The extensive nature should be known in the respective texts. The general establishment of the path is that from Mahayoga onwards, when explaining the nine gradual differences below, it contains the definite aspects of these four classes of tantras.
