If the defilement to be purified is not singular, and what is to be purified and what purifies are also not singular, then what is the meaning of saying that the two truths are inseparable and samsara and nirvana are inseparable? This should be explained: Some believe that the appearing aspect is conventional and the empty aspect is ultimate, so the inseparability of appearance and emptiness is the meaning of the inseparability of the two truths. However, this is not the intention of the Bhagavan, because the empty aspect of the conventional is not ultimate, and the appearing aspect of the ultimate is not conventional. The self-emptiness of the conventional does not transcend dependent origination, and the other-emptiness of the ultimate transcends dependent origination, so these differences are very great. The ultimate, which transcends dependent origination, abides in the aspect of the conventional, and this is said to be the meaning of the inseparability of the two truths. Some also believe that samsara and nirvana are both the same in emptiness, so samsara and nirvana are inseparable. However, this is not the intention of the Bhagavan, because the empty aspect of samsara is not great nirvana, and the appearing aspect of great nirvana is not samsara. The self-emptiness of samsara does not transcend dependent origination, and the other-emptiness of nirvana transcends dependent origination, so these differences are very great. Great nirvana abides in the aspect of samsara, and this is said to be the inseparability of samsara and nirvana. Similarly, merely knowing these as emptiness is not wisdom, not the Dharmakaya, and not Mahamudra, because they do not possess those characteristics. If one thinks that when any affliction arises, by looking at it and realizing its lack of inherent existence, there is no need to seek an antidote separately, and what is to be abandoned becomes the antidote, so what is to be purified and what purifies are inseparable, this is only because it has not been well examined. If it is well examined, realizing that afflictions lack inherent existence belongs to the side of the antidote to afflictions, and is not undifferentiated from afflictions, because the affliction that arose earlier and the wisdom that later realizes its lack of inherent existence are different in terms of time, different in terms of essence, and also different in terms of function and objects.

In short. If someone thinks that whatever arises as affliction is itself the arising of wisdom, so it is only necessary to recognize it, not to abandon it. This idea is also inconsistent with the intention of the Blessed One, and is only deluded by the darkness of not distinguishing between self-emptiness and other-emptiness in emptiness, and between transcendence and non-transcendence in dependent origination. Similarly, if one thinks that "not knowing is conceptual thought, knowing is the Dharmakaya; not knowing is ignorance, knowing is wisdom; not knowing is samsara, knowing is Buddhahood," etc., these are also inconsistent with the Buddha's teachings. If one thinks that "not knowing is darkness, knowing is light; not knowing is a cloud, knowing is the sky; not knowing is the fruit peel, knowing is the fruit core; not knowing is impure filth, knowing is the wish-fulfilling jewel; not knowing is the inside of a vase, knowing is the butter lamp inside the vase," etc., it is the same kind of mistake. Similarly, if one thinks that "all appearances and existence are the Dharmakaya, all that arises is the Great Seal, all conditioned things are self-born wisdom, all samsara and nirvana are the creation of the mind, Buddhahood is just an empty name," etc., these are also inconsistent with the Buddha's teachings. In short, all these are the scriptures, reasoning, and uncommon instructions spoken by the Omniscient One. If analyzed, there are many, many distinctions between right and wrong. But because I am afraid of too many words, I will not write them for now. If someone thinks that these refutations and affirmations are the Dharma language of the sutras, vinaya, shastras, and commentaries, and are not consistent with the realization of yogis. This also needs to be explained. If the realization of yogis belongs to the pure and excellent path, then it must be consistent with the great and excellent treatises. If it is an inconsistent realization, then it cannot become a pure and excellent path. And for this to become a pure and excellent path, it must be consistent with the great and excellent treatises, and this must be consistent with the true intention of the great treatises, not with the
