The benefits of the vast and extensive land were spoken of. The immeasurable faults of not knowing, etc., were also spoken of. Translated by Lha'i Zla-ba: This great Mahayana Nirvana Sutra was requested by the powerful ones for the benefit of other sentient beings. The powerful ones uphold it. The powerful ones explain it. The powerful ones make the sacred Dharma supremely flourish. The powerful ones have shown it for my sake. What I have shown is the great Mahayana Nirvana Sutra. Therefore, those who possess power make it very prosperous. Those who are jealous of this should be punished like weeding a field. Because it does not promote these and other meanings, I have shown "ཨཱི" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). "ཨུ" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) refers to the later tantra. This sutra shows the later and further later meaning of all sutras. I have shown a single letter or a single bindu that the Shravakas and all Pratyekabuddhas have not heard before. This great sutra is supreme, just as the sentient beings with unpleasant sounds in the north have merit. Those who hear this great sutra, whoever they are, are beyond the world. It should be known that they are Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. Therefore, it is called great, which is the meaning of the later tantra. Therefore, I have shown "ཨུ" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) in this way. "ཨཱུ" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) refers to the meaning like a cow's udder. Just as cow's milk is delicious, the taste of this sutra is the same. Those who abandon the teaching of the Tathagatagarbha from this sutra are like cows. For example, not knowing gratitude, thinking of killing oneself. Those who are most worthy of compassion, just like sentient beings who abandon the Tathagatagarbha and teach no-self, it should be known that they are the most worthy of compassion. Therefore, it is called "ཨཱུ" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning). And so on. Son of the lineage, therefore, after hearing this Great Nirvana Sutra, one should generate a mind that is not attached to the nature of women, and one should generate a mind to transform into the nature of men.

那是为什么呢？因为此经是如实宣说男性的自性即是如来藏的缘故。男性的自性称为人。如来藏的自性是男性。世间上凡是有男性存在的，因为他们不了解自己具有如来藏，所以不是男性的自性。凡是不了解如来藏的，就是女性。我是这么说的。凡是正确了知自己具有如来藏的，他们属于男性中的殊胜者，即使是女性，也属于男性中的殊胜者。这样看来，大般涅槃是因为宣说如来藏的缘故，是不可估量的。善男子或善女子，想要迅速通达此经的意义，就应当精勤于如来藏。请问。世尊，不是这样的。世尊，不是这样的，我也是为了修习如来藏的缘故，进入了男性的自性。已经显露了。已经传达了。佛陀回答说：善男子，好啊，好啊。等等。还有从印度传来的说法：就像牛奶中的醍醐是所有味道中最殊胜的一样，如来藏也是如此，在所有的经典中是最主要的、最殊胜的、最极品的。如果有人诽谤或诋毁它，应当知道他与旁生没有差别。等等。此外，还宣说了应当做什么，德瓦灿扎（天护）翻译说：凡是以恶魔所说的经典和律藏作为衡量标准的众生，应当知道他们是在与恶魔为伍。凡是以佛所说的经典和律藏作为衡量标准的，应当知道他们是菩萨。等等，佛陀做了非常多的开示，并且极其详尽地阐述了如何受持、读诵这部甚深、究竟、极其明晰的经典。也极其广泛地宣说了仪轨。之后，菩萨光。

Why is that? Because this sutra accurately reveals that the nature of a male is the Tathagatagarbha. The nature of a male is called a person. The nature of the Tathagatagarbha is male. In the world, all those who exist as males, because they do not understand that they possess the Tathagatagarbha, are not the nature of a male. Those who do not understand the Tathagatagarbha are females. That is what I say. Those who correctly know that they possess the Tathagatagarbha belong to the best of males, even if they are female, they belong to the best of males. Thus, the Great Nirvana is immeasurable because it reveals the Tathagatagarbha. Sons or daughters of good families who wish to quickly understand this sutra should strive for the Tathagatagarbha. Asked: Blessed One, it is not so. Blessed One, it is not so, I also, for the sake of meditating on the Tathagatagarbha, have entered the nature of a male. It has been revealed. It has been communicated. The Buddha replied: Son of good family, good, good. And so on. Also, according to the transmission from India: Just as ghee is the most excellent of all flavors in milk, so too is the nature of the Tathagata, it is the chief, the most excellent, the supreme among all sutras. Whoever reviles or slanders it should be known to be no different from animals. And so on. Furthermore, what should be done with the faculties was also taught. Translated by Devacandra: Those beings who take the sutras and Vinaya spoken by demons as their standard should be known to be in league with demons. Those who take the sutras and Vinaya spoken by the Buddha as their standard should be known to be Bodhisattvas.
