Joy. Having attained the Extremely Joyful Ground, he will live for six hundred years. He is the master of the great peacock of wisdom, and the great self-nature will also accomplish. He understands the meaning of various teachings and the meaning of no-thingness. When he abandons this body, he will go to the Land of Bliss. In the end, he will surely attain perfect enlightenment. Thus, and so on, he is Nagarjuna, who was prophesied in many sutras and tantras. So, how did his lineage come about? In the south of Central Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), there is a great city called Betala, surrounded by six hundred thousand households. In the center of the city is the king's palace called Vajra Palace, made of various precious jewels, with five floors or five inner and outer floors, a total of five floors, which is very beautiful. A bag full of red pearls. Supported by thousands upon thousands of golden pillars, surrounded by silver bird wings, auspicious and joyful, radiating the light of jewels. Wealth is prosperous, the year is bountiful, with herds of elephants, armies of horses, cattle, treasures of jewels, soldiers, troops of vehicles, and treasures of various fruits. The king there is called Brahmin Pervictorious, and he has twenty-six consorts, namely the daughter of King Fortune Auspicious, the daughter of King Chariot, the daughter of King Conch Sound, the daughter of King Drum Sound, the daughter of King Elephant Strength, the daughter of King Light, the daughter of King Lion Strength, and so on, twenty-six virtuous daughters in total. There are fourteen princes and forty-eight princesses, thirty-seven great ministers, fifty middle ministers, and three hundred outer ministers. Among these consorts, the most excellent is the daughter of King Wheel King, named Lotus Radiance, who is beautiful in appearance, pleasing to the eye, devout in her heart to the Dharma, and respectful to the Three Jewels. In each and every place, treasures of the seven precious substances spontaneously emerged, and musical instruments played without being touched, accompanied by many wondrous signs at his birth. The prince was unlike others, his complexion resembling Kashmiri saffron, adorned with many excellent marks, his form exceedingly beautiful, lovely and delightful to behold. He was named "Fortunate Moon." Then, a Brahmin astrologer named Azara was summoned, and the king said: Great astrologer, please do not make a mistaken prediction. My prince, Fortunate Moon, is different from his brothers and possesses wondrous qualities. Please explain in detail his good and bad aspects. The astrologer said: Great victorious king who rules over the four continents, your son, born from a hundred merits, Fortunate Moon, surpasses all others, possessing supreme excellent marks, auspicious and prosperous. However, he will pass away peacefully after seven days. If he does not pass away, he will become the supreme holder of the Tripitaka, and attain the supreme enlightenment of an Arhat, a noble being. The king said: Great Brahmin astrologer, you are the lord of Dharma. My son's essence, the supreme Fortunate Moon, you say is in danger of death after seven days. Do you have a way to save him? The Brahmin said: King of Dharma, Brahmin victorious king, for the essence of your sons, Fortunate Moon, the method of saving him is to give alms to five hundred wandering non-Buddhists, and in this way, he will be able to survive for six months. The king rejoiced and said: Excellent, excellent, astrologer Azara! Even if I had a hundred or a thousand sons, Fortunate Moon is unique. You have shown the way to save him for six months, I am very grateful! Then, he satisfied the astrologer with abundant material offerings. After that, he satisfied five hundred wandering ascetics, led by the king, with alms. After six months had passed, he summoned the astrologer again. The astrologer said: By accumulating merit with five hundred Buddhist monks, he will live for six years. Then, to five hundred monks, including the Pandit Dharmapala, he offered each a jeweled begging bowl filled with camphor, a Dharma robe the color of Kashmiri saffron, and a whisk. The king and his retinue prostrated and circumambulated the five hundred Arhats.
