Now, providing you with the convenience of teaching and listening to the Dharma immediately benefits the present and the future. The reason is that making enjoyment meaningful is giving; making the body meaningful is prostration and circumambulation; making speech meaningful is reciting profound Dharani mantras; making the mind meaningful is cultivating faith and compassion; making leisure meaningful is practicing the Dharma according to the Dharma. There are two ways to practice Dharma: as a householder and as a renunciate. The latter mainly focuses on listening, contemplating, and meditating, which householders cannot do. For householders, the first four meaningful actions are essential. Making enjoyment meaningful through giving also requires pure giving. The Sutras say that to make giving pure, three conditions are needed: the giver has faith, the offering is excellent and abundant, and the recipient is special. First, your motivation for offering should be sincere faith in the Lama and the Three Jewels, and to liberate deceased relatives from the suffering of Samsara, and to enable yourselves to embark on the path to liberation. Second, abundant offerings refer to offering good lamp oil and stones for the Sangha's meals. Third, a special recipient refers to offering to noble beings, parents, the sick, and Dharma speakers, whose merits are immeasurable. The Sangha residing here are all Dharma speakers who are dedicated to propagating the Buddha's teachings, so they are excellent recipients of giving. Thus, initiated by the giver with sincere faith, the offering is the best of one's possessions, and the recipient is a holy Dharma speaker. This giving cuts off the cause of being born as a hungry ghost in the next life. Even if reborn as a human, it cuts off poverty and suffering, and one will obtain abundant enjoyment in all lifetimes. Ultimately, at the time of Buddhahood, it will become the cause of gathering many sentient beings through Dharma giving and material giving. The *Ratnakuta Sutra* says: 'The Bodhisattva's giving cuts off the hungry ghost realm, and also cuts off poverty and all afflictions. When practicing, enjoyment increases without end, and giving ripens all sentient beings who are suffering.' These are the compassionate words spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddha to all beings to be tamed. Therefore, patrons should not renounce and practice listening, contemplation, and meditation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if misfortunes occur, since we have obtained the precious human body with leisure and opportunity, there are many ways to practice Dharma. Entrust your hopes to the Lama (Tibetan: བླ་མ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: गुरु, Sanskrit Romanization: guru, Literal meaning: teacher) and the Three Jewels (Tibetan: དཀོན་མཆོག་རིན་ཆེན་གསུམ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: त्रिरत्न, Sanskrit Romanization: triratna, Literal meaning: three precious ones), take refuge frequently, which will protect you from the fears of future lives, samsara, and the lower realms, and pacify obstacles in this life. In your free time, recite the Mani (Tibetan: མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: मणि पद्मे, Sanskrit Romanization: maṇi padme, Literal meaning: jewel in the lotus), as Avalokiteśvara is the deity of Tibet, and blessings will be swift beyond measure. Show respect to the pure Sangha (Tibetan: དགེ་འདུན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: संघ, Sanskrit Romanization: saṃgha, Literal meaning: community), as the Buddha said it is a supreme field for accumulating merit. Do whatever you can to benefit others, such as giving to the poor, the impoverished, and the sick. The teacher Vasubandhu (Tibetan: དབྱིག་གཉེན་, Sanskrit Devanagari: वसुबन्धु, Sanskrit Romanization: Vasubandhu) said that even in a bad field, with pure intention, good results will arise. Serve your elderly parents properly. Jowo Je (Tibetan: ཇོ་བོ་རྗེ, Sanskrit Devanagari: अतिश, Sanskrit Romanization: Atiśa) said that this is equal to meditating on the essence of emptiness and compassion, and accumulating merit. Do not kill wild animals for no reason, and do not beat weak travelers. The Buddha said that the results of killing, stealing, and other of the ten non-virtuous actions will lead to rebirth in the lower realms. In short, do your best to avoid harming others through body, speech, and mind, and do your best to benefit others. The essence of Dharma is not harming others and benefiting others. If you understand and practice these, even without abandoning worldly relatives and affairs, you will accomplish Dharma that benefits you in future lives. These words are not based on my self-importance or boasting. Today, I read this once in front of the three Geshes (Tibetan: དགེ་རུ་གསུམ་) of Gyad Nyer (Tibetan: གྱད་གཉེར་), hoping to leave a positive impression on those who can understand, and also hoping that I will have the opportunity to teach the Dharma. May the blessings of the Three Jewels, and the merit I have accumulated in the past, present, and future, liberate the three Geshes of Gyad Nyer and all male and female patrons from the three lower realms! In particular, may those who practice pure giving, take refuge in the Three Jewels, recite Dharanis and Mantras (Tibetan: གཟུངས་སྔགས་, Sanskrit Devanagari: धारणी मन्त्र, Sanskrit Romanization: dhāraṇī mantra, Literal meaning: holding mantra), and avoid harming others, be able to seize the path to great bliss and liberation! May enemies, thieves, and harm, and all disasters such as epidemics, be pacified in this life, may all desired enjoyments increase, and may life and lineage always flourish!
