So, in the accumulation phase (Tshogs-sbyor, the stage of accumulating merit) of the Lesser Vehicle, by meditating on the selflessness of the person (gang zag gi bdag med), when one directly sees the truth in the Path of Seeing (mthong lam), the ignorance (ma rig pa) that is abandoned by the Path of Seeing ceases. Although the ignorance that is abandoned by the Path of Meditation does not cease, it no longer triggers the propelling karma ( 'phen byed kyi las) because one has directly seen the truth. Previously, in the state of an ordinary being, a large amount of propelling karma was accumulated, and due to the nourishment of the accomplishing karma ('grub byed kyi las), one will still take many births, just like in the Realm of Existence Seven Times (srid pa lan bdun pa). In the stage of the Path of Meditation (bsgom lam), although the cause of the ignorance abandoned by the Path of Seeing has ceased, the subsequent limbs that resulted from the cessation of action ('du byed) due to the cause of the ignorance abandoned by the Path of Meditation in the past state of an ordinary being have not ceased. It should be known that after the last moment of the Path of Meditation destroys the ignorance abandoned by the Path of Meditation, the subsequent limbs that resulted from the cause of the ignorance abandoned by the Path of Meditation will also not arise. For Bodhisattvas, when the Path of Seeing arises, all the previous ignorance abandoned by the Path of Seeing and the Path of Meditation cease simultaneously, thus abandoning the birth and death caused by karma and afflictions, which has been explained in reliable treatises such as the Uttaratantra (rgyud bla ma), and will not be repeated here. The order of cessation of dependent origination in Hearer Arhats, Solitary Realizer Arhats, and Bodhisattva Arya: Secondly, although Hearer Arhats, Solitary Realizer Arhats, and Bodhisattva Aryas do not have the twelve limbs of contaminated dependent origination in their continuum, the similar twelve limbs of dependent origination that arise from the ground of habitual ignorance (ma rig bag chags kyi sa) and uncontaminated karma (zag med kyi las) still exist and will not cease until Buddhahood is attained, because the ground of habitual ignorance has not been abandoned. How is this known? The Uttaratantra states: 'For these individuals, there is the mind-made birth (yid kyi rang bzhin can gyi skye ba) that arises from the ground of habitual ignorance and uncontaminated karma, as well as the aging (rga ba) of uncontaminated manifestation (zag med mngon par 'du byed), the disease of subtle habits (bag chags phra mo'i nad), and the death of inconceivable transformation ('chi 'pho ba). The Buddhas, the Aryas, have abandoned these four, thus attaining permanence and other qualities.' Just as ordinary beings and Hearer trainees have the four: birth, aging, sickness, and death caused by karma and afflictions, Hearer Arhats, Solitary Realizer Arhats, and Bodhisattva Aryas also have birth, aging, sickness, and death caused by the ground of habitual ignorance and uncontaminated karma. Therefore, the nature of the twelve limbs still exists. So, what are these twelve limbs? When do they cease? First, the ground of habitual ignorance is their ignorance (ma rig); second, action ('du byed) is uncontaminated thought (sems pa); third, consciousness (rnam shes) is uncontaminated entering the womb (mngal du 'jug pa); fourth, name and form (ming gzugs) is the uncontaminated womb (mngal); fifth, the six sense sources (skye mched) are the uncontaminated faculties (dbang po); sixth, contact (reg pa) is uncontaminated contact; seventh, feeling (tshor ba) is uncontaminated feeling; eighth, craving (sred pa) is uncontaminated desire (chags pa); ninth, grasping (len pa) is uncontaminated intense desire (rab tu chags pa); tenth, existence (srid pa) is uncontaminated karma (las); eleventh, birth (skye ba) is uncontaminated birth (skye ba); and twelfth, aging and death (rga shi) are uncontaminated aging and death. All of these cease upon attaining Buddhahood. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

业是行(འདུ་བྱེད།,Karma/Action)。

Karma is action (འདུ་བྱེད།, Karma/Action). The afflictions that correspond to the roots of virtue, desiring to take birth in existence for the benefit of others, are the three: craving, grasping, and existence. From these, the formation of name and form up to feeling from the nature of mind is the birth of the nature of mind. The cessation of the previous moment and the arising of the subsequent moment is action. The death that transforms in an inconceivable way is birth and aging and death. Second, the time of cessation is: when the two obscurations along with their habitual tendencies are destroyed by a samadhi like a vajra of the extreme of continuity, the ground of the habitual tendencies of ignorance ceases. Because of this cessation, all subsequent limbs cease, and thus the four supreme perfections are attained. Third, it shows that the way of understanding dependent origination is particularly superior to that of the lower tenets: Outsiders do not accept dependent origination. Because some claim that the chief and Ishvara (དབང་ཕྱུག,Powerful One/God) etc. are the creators, some claim a permanent cause, and some claim no cause. All insiders accept dependent origination. As it says in the 'Friendly Epistle': 'This dependent origination is the Victorious One's (རྒྱལ་བ་,Victorious One/Buddha), the treasure of the treasury of speech, profound.' Therefore, dependent origination is said to be the most precious and profound of the Tathagata's treasury of speech. However, not everyone understands the meaning of dependent origination correctly. For example, there are two types of dependent origination: dependent origination that distinguishes self-nature, and dependent origination that distinguishes pleasant and unpleasant beings. The first is: how all internal and external things arise from what causes and conditions. The second is: how the internal six sources (སྐྱེ་མཆེད།, sources of perception) of things revolve in the five realms from what causes and conditions. Outsiders are ignorant of both. The two Hearer schools are ignorant of the first. Because they accept that external things are made of atoms and that internal sources arise from the cause of previous actions, etc., which can be analyzed with reason. Although they are not ignorant of the second dependent origination in terms of accepting the progression of the twelve limbs such as ignorance causing action, the Vaibhashikas (分别说部) and other schools establish all twelve limbs in the stages of the aggregates of the three times, etc., there are also incorrect understandings, so it is not understood correctly in all aspects. The Mind-Only school... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
