Initially, who is the one who experiences pleasure and pain, and who is the agent of distinguishing between good and bad? Who is the one who, being deluded, wanders in samsara through successive lives, and who is the agent of attaining Buddhahood upon liberation? Are the three doors (body, speech, and mind) gathered together as one, or are they separate? Who is doing these things? Through investigation and analysis, it is determined that the chief root of everything is mind, just like recognizing a thief. As it says in "Vast Expanse of Clarity": "The single one is the basis of all samsara and nirvana." And in "Secret Essence Tantra": "The very nature of mind, without a basis, is the root of all phenomena." Similarly, in the Dohas, it is said: "The single nature of mind is the seed of all; from it arise existence and the passing beyond sorrow." And so on, the meaning is the same. Searching for the Flaws of Mind Secondly, searching for the flaws of mind: Are the body and speech related to mind, and the mind that clings to "I, you," and "self," are these three one or separate? If they are one, then like body and speech, mind should also be visible and audible. Or, like mind, body and speech should not be visible and audible. If they are not one but separate, then what is the reason for the pleasure and pain of the three doors being one and the same? Having investigated in this way, the body is reduced to indivisible particles, speech vanishes without a trace, and the mind disappears like a bird leaving no trail. As a result, neither oneness nor separateness can be established. By separately examining object and subject, arising and ceasing, existence and non-existence, affirmation and negation, permanence and annihilation, it is revealed that everything transcends the intellect and is merely fabricated by the mind, with no independently established flaw. It is neither anything nor does it fall into any category, but is clear and lucid awareness, beyond the realm of accurate description. It is knowing that the marks of delusion and liberation are pure from the beginning. As it says in "String of Pearls": "In the primordial purity of the very beginning, delusion cannot even be spoken of. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is pure from the very beginning." Just as it is said. Examining the Three Places: Origin, Abode, and Destination Thirdly, examining the three places: origin, abode, and destination: Even if one merely realizes that this mind clinging to "I" is meaningless, that object and agent cannot be established, and that it is without inherent existence, still, by observing oneself, how and from where does the essence of this mind-awareness initially arise? In the middle, where and how does it abide? Finally, where and how does it go and cease? Having investigated and analyzed, where do all these

Furthermore, it is not established. When the antidote of the observer arrives, the nature of the object to be observed must be completely devoid of inherent existence. This awareness of the observer is beyond expression. The essence of individual self-awareness is naturally manifest as primordial purity and spontaneously accomplished wisdom. At that time, where does one go or stay? By observing its essence, the unobstructed awareness of self-power, free from the knowable and the knowing, is naturally cultivated, thereby revealing the state of primordial emptiness and original purity. As stated in the 'Attached Liberation': 'All internal and external examinations are liberated into emptiness.' And: 'If all is known to be completely pure, then the meaning of the ground is manifested, self-liberated in its own place.' Here, it is also the same meaning to realize that the essence is the emptiness of awareness, free from grasping, Walpo without trace, and free from attachment. Now, one might think that the examination of the three places of origin, dwelling, and going, which occurred as an uncommon preliminary, is a repetition. It is not. The former establishes the non-existence by examining the object. Here, it is by examining the subject that it is placed on the essence. This is the view of the Omniscient Longchenpa (1308-1363). The former is the method of establishing the mind as rootless and baseless, while the latter, according to Minling Terchen father and son, is the teaching of abiding equally in the meaning of what has been settled. All of these are the stages of guidance for generating the meaning of the state that has not yet arisen. Introducing the Self-Nature of Awareness. The Common Introduction. Third, regarding the introduction to the self-nature of awareness, there are two methods: the common introduction based on the difference in faculties, and the uncommon introduction. First, the common one. From the Introduction of Elaboration: 'Emaho! By introducing appearance as mind, the mind is absorbed. By introducing mind itself as emptiness, emptiness is sealed with bliss. By introducing emptiness as awareness, awareness itself is non-dual with the expanse, that alone is the Dharmakaya.' This means that for the disciples of this Dharma who have faith but whose consciousness is obscured, first introducing appearance as being made by the mind reverses the self-grasping Svātantrika. Introducing the mind that makes as emptiness abandons attachment to objects. Introducing emptiness as awareness, one is guided by considering only the key point of not misunderstanding the nature of reality as annihilation, which is common to other fruition vehicles, but is not the actual liberating method of this path. As the 'Self-Arisen' says: 'Appearance is of the mind.'
