First, having shown the state of Kadag as free from elaboration, although those with sharp faculties are liberated by repeating the 'la' (letter 'la' in Tibetan alphabet) without meditation, the key points of that profound path of Trekchö are to correctly generate the meaning of the state free from elaboration by combining calm abiding and insight, which means to increase and cause it to arise in the mindstream. Although there is nothing that is not included in the two, introduction and practice, it is easier to divide the teaching method into four: reason, determination, introduction, and practice. First, the reason for being the main practice through the door of definitive words is: If one relies on words alone, such as profound clarity and appearance emptiness, which are related to each other, as view and meditation, it is like seeing a temple but not seeing the three supports, which is a basis but not the real thing. If one understands the freedom from the four extremes or eight extremes through conceptual analysis, but it does not become established in experience, like a 'Prayasa' (one who makes effort), it is like seeing the three supports but not determining their characteristics. If one makes the mere conceptualization that all phenomena are without inherent existence into a path, but one does not directly recognize the essence of that lack of inherent existence, then one remains ordinary at the time of death, like not seeing either the temple or the three supports, like a philosophical extreme that is neither of the two. Here, the excellent view of the Vajra Essence, the unsurpassed vehicle of the Great Perfection of Natural Perfection, does not rely on the coarse aspects of view and meditation, but directly shows self-liberation, and the state of the support and the supported is determined as it is, like being both the real thing and the basis. This is taking the result as the path, and it is said by Longchen Namkhai Naljor (Longchenpa, the Sky Yogi) that this is the unsurpassed main practice of all the paths to Buddhahood." }, { "original_tibetan": "གནས་ལུགས་གཏན་ལ་འབེབས་པ།", "chinese_translation": "确立体性。", "english_translation": "Establishing the Nature" }, { "original_tibetan": "རྟོག་པ་རྩད་བཅད་པ།", "chinese_translation": "斩断念头。", "english_translation": "Cutting off thoughts."
