One should never be certain that because something hasn't happened yet, it won't happen in the future. As stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "Although sinful deeds have been committed, they are not immediately cut off like a head with a sword. However, when the time of death approaches, the results of those sinful deeds will surely manifest." Therefore, there is no instance where sin is forgiven or harmless. In times of apparent harmlessness, sin does not simply vanish without consequence. Therefore, it is said that abandoning sin before it causes harm is the true key instruction. When a woman requested Dharma teachings, she was also told: "The root of Dharma is that it is crucial to ensure that one is not reborn in the three lower realms in future lives. Rebirth in the three lower realms is caused by great sins, not small ones. Great sins will cause the suffering of the three lower realms to be more intense and prolonged, while small sins will only cause the suffering in the three lower realms to be lighter or shorter. Therefore, one should always be extremely fearful of the possibility of negative sins arising in one's own mindstream." Doing so is like what the great Kadam master Potowa said to Yorpo Darso: "Even turning away from sin due to mere doubt can lead to a hundred lifetimes of fortunate rebirths. During that time, if a genuine conviction arises that happiness and suffering are definitely the results of karma, through meditating on the results of karma, that is no small matter." As it is said, the magnitude of karma and its results depends solely on one's contemplation. Sharawa himself said: "The results of happiness and suffering arise from virtuous and non-virtuous actions, just as benefit and harm arise from consuming suitable or unsuitable food and medicine. Among children of the same parents, some are beautiful, and some are ugly. Similarly, there are differences in size, intelligence, strength, and even when shares are equally distributed, some are impoverished while others are wealthy. All of this can be inferred to some extent based on scriptural authority. Therefore, contemplating from various perspectives, one should develop firm faith in the magnitude of karma and its results." In this way, abandoning the causes of bad migrations and accumulating the causes of good migrations, the Geshe himself said: "Because of firm faith in the magnitude of karma and its results, turn away from sin and engage in the ten virtuous actions."

That which abides on the path is called discipline. It is said that with generosity and patience as companions, one obtains the happiness of going to a good rebirth in the desire realm. If there is no generosity and patience, even if one obtains a good rebirth through discipline alone, one will not obtain the happiness of enjoyment and good looks. Therefore, one will not attain the happiness of samsara. To attain the happiness of samsara, these three causes must be complete. Then, if one wishes to obtain a person with seven qualities, or one with ten complete fortunes for oneself and others, or one with four wheels, it is said that one should diligently practice the causes mentioned earlier. That is, if we take the seven qualities as an example, first, to obtain the cause of great enjoyment, one should abandon taking what is not given and give generously. Second, to obtain the cause of being free from illness, one should abandon beating sentient beings and give medicine and suitable food to the sick. Third, to obtain the cause of good looks, one should cultivate patience inwardly, outwardly, and in between, and give new clothes generously. Offer butter lamps to the Three Jewels and precious ornaments to the images of the Tathagatas. Fourth, to obtain the cause of great splendor, one should frequently have the thought that all sentient beings may be happy and well. Offer shelters and trees to the Sangha. Fifth, to obtain the cause of a good lineage, one should abandon pride, honor all holy beings, and have faith and respect for all. Sixth, to obtain the cause of great wisdom, one should listen extensively to the holy Dharma, give paper, ink, and needles, and diligently make beautiful covers for scriptures, as this is also a cause of great wisdom. Seventh, to obtain the cause of long life, one should abandon killing and practice rescuing. If one sees ants and other creatures living on land falling into the water, one should rescue them as much as possible. If there is an opportunity to ransom lives, one should ransom them to the best of one's ability. As སྣེའུ་ཟུར་བའི་ ཞལ་ནས། said, whether male or female, monastic or lay, none of these seven is unimportant, and one is more important than the other. Therefore, one should understand the cause and effect of all these and diligently train in the causes. Similarly, Dwelling in a harmonious place, Relying on a noble person, With good aspirations for oneself, having accumulated merit in the past, You possess the four great wheels. Thus spoke the teacher.
