Therefore, it is very important to meditate on impermanence of death. Meditate on loving-kindness and compassion through the faults of samsara. Then, one must give up self-interest and do whatever it takes to accomplish the benefit of others. To become a Buddha, one must first have the desire to benefit sentient beings. In the middle, one must also have the desire to benefit sentient beings in order to become a Buddha. Finally, after becoming a Buddha, there is nothing to do but benefit sentient beings. Therefore, first meditate on the impermanence of death, in the middle meditate on the faults of samsara, and finally, with loving-kindness, compassion, and bodhicitta, only benefit sentient beings, which is the meditation on conventional bodhicitta. To meditate on ultimate bodhicitta, one must have the combination of three things: the practice of previous lives, one's own effort, and the blessing of the guru. Without the practice of previous lives, one will not have the leisure and endowment of the seven qualities in this life, so one needs the practice of accumulating merit in previous lives. Moreover, if one does not make one's own efforts and remains on the path of laziness, one will not attain the noble path. Without the blessing of the guru, no qualities will increase, and one will gain nothing. Even if something arises, it will disappear like cutting off the water source, and merit will be exhausted. The scripture says: 'Without a guru, one cannot reach the end of samsara; without holding onto a boat, one cannot cross the ocean.' Like this. Therefore, first having practice, accomplishing it through one's own efforts, and relying on a qualified guru is the ultimate samaya of the secret mantra path. Therefore, one must carefully protect the samaya, and merely understanding the words of the instructions is not helpful, like reciting Ne Tso. Gurus also attain accomplishment through practice. We must also, with devotion to the guru, have our minds blessed, practice the instructions properly, and thus various signs of accomplishment will arise. For example, Naropa relied on Tilopa for twelve years, and with devotion to the guru, even though he was not directly taught the instructions, he practiced as the guru said because of his respect for the guru, and thus various signs of accomplishment arose. Therefore, when a qualified guru and a worthy disciple meet, all qualities will be accomplished in an instant, first peace, in the middle clarity and non-discrimination, and finally freedom from all conceptual elaborations, abiding in the meaning like the sky, like a continuous stream of water. The scripture also says: 'In a single moment, one becomes a fully enlightened Buddha, in a single moment...' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus it is said. Therefore, it is important to have faith and put it into practice. If not, there will come a time when you will regret it. When wishes cannot be fulfilled, nothing but your own practiced Dharma will help. Therefore, it is very important to strive for practice now. There is no other Dharma than this. For those with a narrow mind, it is very important to cultivate loving-kindness and compassion. If you listen to the Dharma in various ways, if you practice false Dharma, know that life is short. For those with a narrow mind, it is very important to cultivate loving-kindness and compassion. There are three ways to arise: based on sentient beings, based on Dharma, and without any basis. First, to generate loving-kindness, compassion, and Bodhicitta based on sentient beings, because one has not realized the true nature, one focuses on sentient beings who have suffering of grasping and attachment, thinking how wonderful it would be if sentient beings could be free from suffering, attain happiness, and attain perfect Buddhahood. Whatever you do, do not mix in your own desires, but like Jowo (尊者), work for the benefit of sentient beings. Because Jowo attained perfect complete enlightenment by relying on sentient beings, it is very important to focus on sentient beings. If you abandon sentient beings, it is impossible to attain liberation and omniscience, therefore, loving-kindness, compassion, and Bodhicitta based on sentient beings are very important and precious. To generate Bodhicitta based on Dharma, because all Dharmas are like dreams and illusions, everything you do should be treated like dreams and illusions. As the sutra says: 'Like illusory Dharmas, practice like illusions, attain Buddhahood like illusions.' Knowing that all Dharmas are like dreams and illusions, hatred cannot be established and will naturally dissolve. By analogy, all attachments and aversions should be regarded as dreams and illusions, and do not cling to anything. Whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, practice like dreams and illusions, and it is effortless to break the belief in the reality of appearances. By practicing in this way, it is effortless to attain supreme accomplishment in this life. Thus, focusing on Dharma is the practice of Bodhicitta. The Bodhicitta without any basis is to abandon all elaborations and characteristics, and to practice the meaning that is not established in any essence, those who realize this meaning all say that it is like a deer entering China. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
