Because of being non-different from the nature of clarity, the unclear also, like the nature of clarity, possesses qualities such as having causes; and the clear also, because of being non-different from the nature of unclearness, possesses qualities such as not having causes. That is certain as its own nature; otherwise, it would be too extreme. Furthermore, if one definitely understands following and reversing in the world, then the entities of cause and effect are established. By what means can it be established that the great arises from the chief, and from the great arises what is called ego, etc., and there is no understanding of following and reversing in the certainty that the great, etc., arise from the chief, etc.? Therefore, the assertion that the great, etc., arise from the chief, etc., is without reason. By what means can it be established that the chief produces the difference of the effect? The permanent does not have the entity of a cause, because it is contradictory for the permanent to perform functions with sequence and without sequence. If one thinks, 'By what means is it contradictory if the nature is not different? We do not accept the entity of cause and effect because a previously non-existent nature arises. Because the chief completely transforms into the nature of the great, etc., like a whirlwind, etc., it is shown that the great, etc., are its cause. And the great, etc., are also the nature into which the chief has completely transformed, so it is shown to be its effect. Complete transformation also does not contradict even though it is non-different because it abides in one entity.' If you think like that, it is not correct because complete transformation is not established. Like this, in complete transformation, is the previous nature completely abandoned, or is it not abandoned? If it is said that it is not abandoned, then at that time, the state will become confused, because even in the state of old age, etc., there will be an over-attachment to the states of youth, etc. But if it is said that it is completely abandoned, then at that time, it will be too extreme to lose one's own nature. Therefore, because another nature, the previous one, ceases, and another previously non-existent nature arises, there is no complete transformation at all.

Accomplished. Furthermore, the characteristic of complete transformation is said to be the transformation of itself into another state, and is this transformation achieved through a part or the entirety of itself? For the moment, it is not through a part, because it is impossible for a thing to have only a part. Nor is it through the entirety of itself, because when other things arise, the previous state must necessarily vanish. Therefore, it is unreasonable to think that it transforms itself into another state, because the reason for this is the arising of other self-natures. If someone thinks that, while the dharma-nature remains unchanged, the arising of other dharmas due to the change of other dharmas is called complete transformation, rather than the transformation of the self-nature itself, this idea is incorrect, because do the dharmas of entering and exiting, compared to the dharma-nature, become other things, or do they not become other things? If they become other things, then how can the state of the dharma-nature itself be called complete transformation? When cloths and horses, which have become other things, arise and vanish, it does not affect the unchanging pots and so on, which have their own essence, because this is too extreme. If this is the case, then people would also become completely transformed things. If it is thought that it is only when two dharmas related to it arise and vanish that it is considered completely transformed, otherwise it is not, this is also incorrect, because if there is no connection between existent and non-existent things, then the connection with it cannot be established. Does this connection occur with existent things, or with non-existent things? For the moment, it does not occur with existent things, because it has already fully possessed all perfect self-natures and does not need to rely on anything. Nor does it occur with non-existent things, because it has completely detached from all describable characteristics and cannot possibly rely on anything. Therefore, things like rabbit horns cannot possibly rely on anything. When other different dharmas arise and vanish, your notion of complete transformation is also untenable. So, what is complete transformation? When the state is different, but the self-nature of the same essence continues to exist, then you should consider that to be complete transformation.
