Because of clinging to intrinsic nature, it is not meaningless. Therefore, because of the senses following and clinging to the near meaning, becoming manifest is harmful to the assertion of momentariness. Similarly, for this, inference can establish harm. Thus, it is seen that memory and recognition, etc., are impossible for anything that is extremely different. One who has seen Devadatta does not recognize the offering as "that is him," and even if he becomes someone else, he does not have the memory of "what I saw before is him." If things are momentary, then what was seen before and what is seen later, Devadatta and the offering, because they are extremely different, will not become objects of recognition. Because the viewer and the recognizer are different, the realization of recognition will not arise, just like Devadatta and the offering. Therefore, it should be understood through the things themselves that the recognizer and the recognized are the same object. Therefore, here, difference is not pervasive of the object of recognition, and what contradicts this is the object of recognition itself. Therefore, by observing the contradictory pervasive, difference is eliminated. Therefore, the meaning of valid cognition (pramana) is this: whatever is the object of recognition is not different. For example, the nature of things seen simultaneously by those who have realization, what you see is what I see, and thus recognition arises. Similarly, some things also become objects of recognition. Therefore, for these things, the characteristic of momentariness has no difference. Therefore, in this way, the oneness that is fully established by inference can only harm the non-momentary nature. The valid cognition in relation to the recognizer should also be understood accordingly. Similarly, for entrustment, dedication, and statements, etc., when memory is seen, in the manner previously explained, it is only showing the oneness that produces memory, and therefore it only causes harm to the many things made by momentariness. Therefore, in this way, for momentariness, there is no establishing perception, nor is there inference, and there is no harm.

are direct perception and inference. The fame of all beings also harms because things exist for only a short time. Therefore, the momentariness itself cannot be proven, if you say so. Then, listen to this answer. It is unreasonable to say, "One does not understand which thing will become the meaning expressed by the sound of a moment." Because in the world and in astrology, the sound of a moment is understood to express a short time, just as one says, "Please stay for a moment." The words "moment, instant, short while" are also spoken with the understanding that they express a short time. Therefore, following the understanding of other treatises and entering into the understanding of worldly people, the sound of a moment expresses a short time. The moment in which it is not possible to distinguish between before and after is called a moment that is separate from the two parts of before and after. The moment in which there is a distinction of time, depending on the moment of distinction, is extremely small and cannot be expressed. Because time is extremely small, the sound of a moment, which expresses extremely small time, seems to refer to the moment that is devoid of before and after. Therefore, the sound of a moment itself is one who understands the meaning of words. It should also be answered to what was said, "There is no example for proving momentariness itself." Although there are examples here, it is not reasonable for other things to become its nature merely by means of similar dharmas. Therefore, the measure of establishing pervasion must show the object to be proven and the means of proof as things that are pervaded and pervading. When the means of proof that thoroughly establishes pervasion is shown, then the object to be proven will be understood, otherwise it will not be. Therefore, even if there is momentary destruction in the example, momentary destruction is established only by showing it as a measure that thoroughly establishes pervasion. If that is the case, if momentariness is established by the measure of establishing pervasion on the very nature of the object to be proven, then taking the reason called "existence" will become meaningless, if you say so. Establishing pervasion on the very nature
