Therefore, they think that (things) will become objects. The idea here is that they think the meaning of object is the meaning of cause. The reason is that, in order to show that the conditions are internal objects, and also that conditions are causes. Thinking that it is merely a cause, this is also a reversed reason for completely regarding atoms as objects, because when they become the cause of consciousness, those who say external objects think that this is the object. In the phrase "because that is its cause," the word "that" is connected with consciousness. In order to facilitate the presentation of the second view, it is said, "If it is thought to be an aggregate," that is, if it is thought that the object of consciousness is an aggregate of atoms. Those Aggregates are those aggregates. The word "that" here is connected with atoms, so it is called an aggregate of atoms. Furthermore, why is it thought that those aggregates are objects? It is said, "Because the appearing consciousness arises there," that is, because eye and other consciousnesses always arise appearing as aggregates, it is thought that aggregates are objects. Here, the reversed reason for completely regarding aggregates themselves as objects is the appearance as aggregates themselves. Because consciousness appears as an aggregate, others think that the aggregate is the object, that is, they say that whatever way consciousness easily appears, that is its object. "Consciousness has such an appearance of that, so this is what appears there." Here, the word "there" is also connected with the aggregate. "That is appearance, and also consciousness," thus connecting the words, the words are abbreviated as "producing the consciousness that appears there." Therefore, here, others think that atoms and aggregates are reasonable object characteristics, so they think that they themselves are objects, this is the former view. In order to temporarily refute the former view, it is said, "The cause of sense consciousness is atoms, etc." Atoms in the true sense are real

It does not exist in it. If it is conceived as having parts, then it would be a fault of being conventionally existent. If it is conceived as being without parts, then it would also be a fault of not having shadows and obscurations, etc. Therefore, how could these be causes? However, atoms are accepted as causes, and they are the objects of cognition. Atoms can become the nature of the cause of consciousness, but because they do not produce consciousness with the appearance of atoms, they are not objects of cognition, like the sense faculties. The sense faculties can become the substance of the cause of consciousness, but the opponent does not consider it to be its object, because consciousness does not produce the appearance of the sense faculties. Like this, the consciousness called the sense faculty, mentioning the sense faculty includes all six sense faculties up to the mind. The reason here has been explained. The phrase "fine particles" is just to understand the meaning. "Although it is so" shows the argument of acceptance. "Because it does not appear there," for whom those appear like that, that is what appears there. The word "there" is combined with the atoms. Not appearing there is not appearing there. The third is to look at the reason here, therefore it is said "because it is not the appearance of atoms." "Its" refers to the consciousness of the sense faculty. "The object is, not particles like the sense faculties," means that just as the sense faculties are not objects, the atoms are the same as them. The word "sense faculty" here refers to the controllers. If consciousness does not become the appearance of atoms, then it itself will have a fault. Since atoms are easy to understand, why won't they become objects? Therefore, the object and so on are mentioned, like this, the object is what is defined as definitely clinging to the appearance of producing its own nature. The word "is" means "because." The phrase "clinging to its own nature," mentioning its own nature, is to distinguish between self-characteristic and general characteristic.

Therefore, it is so. That which definitely grasps is called discrimination, which is synonymous with "completely cutting off and grasping." The saying "because of its manifestation" means that if it is not the manifestation of the object, then consciousness cannot definitely grasp the object elsewhere. Therefore, the consciousness that manifests as blue, etc., definitely grasps the meaning of blue, etc., which is its meaning. What is done here? Is this consciousness said to definitely grasp the object? Such a term is applied, but the nature of definite grasping has no function at all. Just as it is said, "A son who is born following whatever form grasps the father's form," so too, consciousness is born following the form of the object, and the term 'grasping the object' is also applied. If it is thought that atoms are also like that, and that they definitely grasp their own nature because of their manifestation, then it is said, "Therefore, although atoms have become their cause, they are not like that," and so on. Although atoms have become their cause, if they do not follow the individually determined forms of consciousness, how can they grasp their own nature? If they do not definitely grasp, how can they become objects? The saying "although they have become their cause" means that they have become the cause of consciousness. Here, the example of the sense faculty is given. Just as the sense faculty becomes the object of the cause, but the consciousness that arises from its manifestation does not definitely grasp its own nature, so just as it is not desired to be an object, atoms should also be viewed in the same way. The sense faculty will also become the object, so the object is not just the nature of the cause. Having thus refuted that atoms are objects, in order to make a conclusion, it is said, "Thus, for the time being," and so on. It is said that because they are not suitable as the nature of an object, atoms are not objects. The argument here is: atoms are not objects, because they do not generate self-manifesting consciousness, like the sense faculty. Dissimilar example.
