do not let go. Therefore, if the establishment of merit is achieved solely through liberation from faults, then what is the use of this? If this is true, however, those who are dull-witted, of weak intelligence, and adhere to the literal meaning, they will only understand that liberation from all faults is simply liberation from faults, and not the implied meaning, in order to make them understand clearly. Also, for those who are sharp-witted and understand through the beginning, it should also be said in this way: Let us assume for a moment that there is such a situation where one is separated from all faults, but is not adorned with all merits, such as crystal, cat's eye, emerald, and so on. Therefore, these two differences should be stated. To such an omniscient one, I prostrate and then explain the Dharma. To whom is this prostration made? It is to the Buddha Bhagavan. What proves this? Because it shows uncommon qualities. The adornment of all lands, separated from all faults, the collection of merits is unshakable, reaching the ultimate supreme shore, except for the Buddha Bhagavan, it is impossible for there to be another omniscient one. Do other heretics not also think that their own teachers possess these qualities? If they have these qualities, then how is the difference established? Therefore, it is said, "The only friend of all sentient beings." It is said that they are harmful to sentient beings. For example, the fierce one burned the triple city. The pervader destroyed eighteen great armies. The naked ascetics also think that they can scare people with just a little wisdom, and their disciples say that they will deprive them of their precepts when they leave their dwellings. Ascetics are also burned by the fire of anger, and the fourfold army, including the king, will instantly become fuel for the fire of curses. If it is said that this is their method of taming sentient beings, then it is indeed so, and there is no dispute. The word Buddha, because it is different from different kinds of things, only expresses that kind of meaning. So is the Bhagavan.
