Whoever is possessed by desire becomes like livestock and is seized by sorrow. For what should and should not be done, the mind no longer thinks, giving rise to contemptible places. Even when fanned by the ordinary cool breeze, the body cannot be satisfied. This great fire of desire, may you, the supreme giver, surely pacify it. Whose power makes the eyes waver and the teeth clench. The sinful source that instantly brings the fruit of unbearable hell. Even the ascetics who eat fallen leaves and pure water cannot expel it. That serpent of anger dwelling in the recesses of the mind, may you, Lord of a Hundred Gods, eliminate it. Whoever covers the eyes, evil wisdom abandons the path of peace. The mind, closely wrapped in the poison of wrong views, relies on other paths. Dispelling the dimness, it is said to be the root of all defilements. Wandering in the house of wrong thoughts, the darkness of ignorance, may you, Lord of a Hundred Gods, dispel it. Lord of a Hundred Gods, supreme ones! We beseech you. To go against a vow, Is not desired by the wise. Thereafter, the Lord of a Hundred Gods no longer asked them for the objects of desire, but with unattached, clear, and beautiful words, he amazed them in a wondrous way, and with pure faith, he made the hairs of their bodies stand on end, saying: To ask for impoverished things, In the world is base and disheartening. What I am able to give, May you, daughters of giving, speak of the most excellent things. Then, those girls, with those words containing unseen causes, with anger truly aroused by disgust, said to the Lord of a Hundred Gods: Why approach us with seductive means? Lord of a Hundred Gods, where are those unsightly things? Merely for pleasure, or for foolish minds, We are not the playthings of unchaste people. Here, do you not know that we are of a royal lineage, famous in all directions, possessing many retinues? Whoever surely examines the essence of wealth, The name of the lord of wealth also truly corresponds to its meaning. In order to escape the torment of aging and death, In order to dispel the fear of weariness, aversion, and discouragement, The protector of the gods has temporarily come here, Not out of arrogance!

It is not because of instability, but because of harming those who do good, why do you make us suffer? May a hundred thousand joys make the union of relatives and friends last long. You have a glorious destiny because of your own deeds, why have you become the lord of the gods? By oppressing others to become the king of the gods, you will not obtain sacred perfection. Then, that great independent one, was pleased in body and mind by those words that were clear and showed various meanings of the words, was extremely amazed, and his face was radiant and beautiful because of faith. Furthermore, in order to awaken their thoughts, he spoke with extremely kind and gentle words: Alas, sisters like mothers! Even if the ascetics of the world, if they want to regard me as a protector, why give such grace? You have become so ruthless to me. Then, those daughters became even more agitated, and with anger said to Indra: Happiness and so on make the face, infatuation, smile and corner of the eye, the place to look is elsewhere, and the supreme of charity is also elsewhere. If Indra you, are able to give the most supreme, then defeat those meat-eaters of those places, the untamed ones. Or, if it is difficult to abandon desire, and you are attached to evil thoughts, then always harm that river. If you can do this, you who have a thousand eyes, are fascinated by unstable desires, if you are a different giver, how can you say this is supreme? Just like a person driven by the fearful force of a river, thinking that others should be saved, this is the place of ignorance of complete understanding. When will I be able to shave my hair, wear the dust-filled duster clothes, and desire to live in a quiet place? When will I be able to look like a yoke, holding a clay bowl in my hand, from house to house, begging without arrogance? When will I be able to be unattached to gain and respect, become a mud of thorny afflictions, practice, and become a place of alms in the city? When will I be able to stand up from the pile of grass, wearing heavy bark clothes, and eating bad food and drink?
