The Jataka of the Seven Young Women. Given by Secret. The Jataka of the Seven Young Women. Given by Secret. In Sanskrit: सप्तकुमारिकाअवदानम् (saptakumārikāavadānam). In Tibetan: The Jataka of the Seven Young Women. Homage to the Three Jewels! Possessing detachment and well-spoken words, as well as wonder and the determination of that very meaning, the only thing to be listened to by the holy ones, I will tell the Jataka, please listen! Thus, for those whose roots of virtue are fully matured, great enjoyment or youth will not become an obstacle, therefore they become beautiful. It is also heard in this way that a king named Kṛkī, endowed with the splendor of virtues such as righteousness and forbearance, had true faith in the Bhagavan, the perfectly enlightened Buddha Light Protector. His seven daughters, endowed with the power of having extensively created roots of virtue in the presence of previous Buddhas, became extremely disgusted with samsara. With humility and respect, they prostrated to their father and spoke with pleasant words: The dwelling of the world is seen as wavering like the reflection of the moon in water, the body transformed by desire and anger is seen like the shadow of a tree. Seeing these beings burned by the fire of suffering, O King, we are determined to renounce and joyfully go to the solitary charnel ground. The king said: You are children, you should rely on happiness, and if the things you have in mind have not been accomplished, how can you say that you will go to a place of asceticism? The daughters said: O Lord of the Earth, we know your actions, you moisten beings with compassion and possess a contented demeanor, you are loving even when there is no need, what need is there to mention us, the sinless and pure ones who are close to your lap? Even if we stay with you, we will eventually face an involuntary separation, wouldn't we be saddened by this poverty? The king was overjoyed that his daughters wanted to attain the state of peace. Then, the king, out of affection,

With a withered face and eyes as red as copper, unmoving, he looked at them again and again, saying: Why have you abandoned the comfortable and spacious palace, and the various wide and beautiful cushions? Why are you in this loathsome cemetery, like the mind of an evil person, with the ground spread with a garden of white bones as a mat? How can you abandon at once your father, with a face of grief, and your homeland, as if in a haze, and your mother, with a face of tears? Why do you abandon your dear friends, who are in the unwavering stream of your mind's affection, and delight in demonstrating asceticism? Then, those daughters, with a very firm mind, proudly said: The love of parents and friends is just a name, these are the basis for falling again and harm in samsara. Seeing the meaning of arising, obscured by hidden defilements, the lord of men, the world, is completely deceived by destruction. Who would be attached to these false, filthy things, the various faces of friends, relatives, and kin? The world of existence, the path of humans, is like an illusion, who here would consider whom as a relative or a stranger, and by what means? O king of men, the world is illuminated by the light of the sacred Dharma's words, as long as there is a garland of pleasing rays of fame like the sun of the Tathagata, then, from the endless dark abyss of samsara, which is deeply covered by the multitude of impoverished darkness, should arise. Just as in a house burning with flames swayed by the wind, those who wish to rescue people do not prevent it. Likewise, the holy ones do not prevent liberation from the net of all harm in samsara, which is at the peak of the great fire of suffering, for the sake of benefiting. Then, that king, tormented even more by grief because of the harsh words of his daughters, who disregarded friends and relatives, and the words that showed they were not attached to their own bodies and lives, spoke to them again: Wanting to manifest asceticism out of season does not accord with the mind and the meaning of conformity. Just as a daughter who is pregnant out of season does not give birth to a beautiful baby with limbs and parts. Practicing asceticism when the time is ripe is beautiful like a flawless moon. Therefore, young ones, abandon this useless change of mind.
