It should be examined in this way. It is said in the sutra that whatever the Blessed One has not permitted or prohibited, if it is in accordance with permission, it should be accepted, otherwise it should not be accepted. This is a summary statement. The word "that" is used to emphasize the tone. For example, the Blessed One neither prescribed nor forbade eating sprouts. Like haritaki and other medicines, if they are enjoyed with the idea of medicine, there will be no fault. However, if it is enjoyed with the idea of gluttony, it is like anointing with oil, which is the cause of producing faults. Similarly, other things should also be viewed in this way. Similarly, this is like a lamp, which is in accordance with the lamp, because it illuminates darkness and difficulties, so the Vinaya Summary spoken by the Blessed One is you. Vinaya Summary, fifteenth chapter. Now, from the Concise Collection of Novice's Precepts, etc., may the merits arising from it fully ripen. The precepts of the novices are universal conduct, and the concise collection is a collection. Because it arises from this, it is said to arise, which refers to the cause. Whatever merit arises from the Concise Collection of Novice's Precepts is the merit that arises from the Concise Collection of Novice's Precepts. Whatever merit arises in this way, may the glory of these worlds of perfect and complete enlightenment reach the state of Buddhahood. Why? Because it is said, "From the path shown by Shakya Light." Because he was born into the Shakya clan, the Blessed One is Shakya. His teachings are very bright, so it is light, because it illuminates darkness and difficulties. May it reach from the path that has been universally shown and illuminated by the teachings that have become light. Or, "Shakya Light" is the name of the author of the sentence, so it is from the path universally shown by him, that is, from the path of sentence construction. Thus, the world is by the teacher Shakya Light...

Through teaching in the form of poetry, may one immediately reach the state of perfect and complete enlightenment. Now, starting from "From the Vinaya Ocean Spoken by the Sugata," etc., it explains entering by the power of oneself and others. The discipline spoken by the Sugata itself is precious, because those who do not possess merit find it difficult to obtain. What is the special feature? Up to "burning," that is, possessing light and being supreme. Only the Vinaya is the ocean, because it is extremely vast, and because it is able to utilize very subtle things, therefore it is difficult to measure its depth. From it, jewels are collected. Who collected them? It mentions "the Vajra of Power," just as the Vajra of Power pierces jewels and uses them as ornaments, similarly, collecting the words of discipline from the Vinaya, through the combination of the Vajra of Power, piercing the precious discipline and stringing it into a rosary, this is the concluding statement. The word "Vajra of Power" is in reference to the majority of cases, because there is also the Near Vajra of Power. For example, "These are those who have different masters and have committed offenses," and so on. Or, the term Vajra of Power is also used for the Near Vajra of Power, because it has the same nature in one aspect, so there is no error. According to whose system is it divided? The Sarvastivada. For whom is it divided? For the friend of Shakya, this must be divided. It mentions "For the friend of Shakya." Those who say that all things such as karma and result exist are the Sarvastivadins, and they are also the root of the Buddha's Shravakas, and they are also the Sarvastivadins, so they are the Sarvastivadins. Those disciplines that are definitely divided and arranged, in order to be ornaments for the Shramaneras, therefore this is strung into a rosary, this is a superfluous word. What is "being the basis" from? It is said: Because it is expressed in the language of Sanskrit. Thus, noble people express themselves in Sanskrit, while ordinary people do not.

So it is said. The reason for this is to explain the nature of grammar in order to understand what is elegant. Elegance is also the foundation of the world, because the terms and expressions of the world arise from it. The Sarvāstivādins are also the same as this, because they derive the terms of other schools from it, not from other schools, because the statements of other schools are vulgar, erroneous, and eclectic, and they appeared later. It is also said in the scriptures that not long after the Blessed One passed into complete nirvāṇa, five hundred arhats gathered in Rājagṛha and compiled the Tripiṭaka. After that, one hundred and ten years after the Blessed One passed into nirvāṇa, seven hundred arhats, headed by the noble Sarvābhāva, etc., up to the hunchback and the farmer, gathered in Vaiśālī and conducted the second compilation, eliminating ten things such as the allowance of huluhuluka, because the vast content comes from the subtle. After that, King Dharma Aśoka Śiva and the arhats, due to their excessive attachment to vulgar, erroneous, and eclectic statements, gradually combined the scriptures with other scriptures for the sake of taming beings, such as the Sūtra Piṭaka compiled in the vast language, which led to the division of the teachings into eighteen schools. The so-called "Face of Śākya's Friend," Śākya is the Blessed One, because he was born into the Śākya clan. His friend is the spiritual friend, which is the unconditioned path, because by its power one can attain the state of Buddhahood. The so-called "its face" refers to the reason for obtaining it. Or, Śākya is the Blessed One, and is a friend like him who is the spiritual friend of beings, Śākya's friend is for the sake of beings, in order to liberate them. Or, "Śākya's Friend" is the name of a monk, and "its face" refers to what he prayed for. Whatever's wisdom merges into the source of goodness, I will be liberated in his presence. Whenever, even without reverence, it is for the sake of others, therefore I contemplate with my own power.
