It is the view of the perishable aggregation. View is a direction, a distinction of wisdom. However it may be spoken of in general terms, it is only the wisdom that thoroughly engages in the forms of "I" and "mine" that is said to be the view of the perishable aggregation. For it is also stated in the scriptures. A demon is one who eats flesh, etc.; it is a demon because it is like a demon, because it is difficult to cure. The view of the perishable aggregation is also that, and the demon is also that, therefore it is the demon attached to the view of the perishable aggregation. Root refers to cause; because it is both the demon attached to the view of the perishable aggregation and also the root, it is the root of the demon attached to the view of the perishable aggregation in samsara. Therefore, morality destroys it, so it is the annihilation of the root of the demon attached to the view of the perishable aggregation. This also shows that morality is the cause of the realm of nirvana with the remaining aggregates. Because afflictions arise strongly from the view of the perishable aggregation, therefore by abandoning it, all afflictions will be abandoned. Or, immediately after abandoning it, some other desires, etc., are abandoned simultaneously, and some are abandoned gradually later, therefore, not being eaten by demons, it is the cause of nirvana. If it is said that since selflessness has been shown, how can a monk's morality attain liberation? There is no fault in this. Because by abiding in morality, possessing hearing and thought, and diligently applying oneself to meditation, wisdom gradually arises from that, therefore, through stages, it becomes the cause of two kinds of nirvana: one is victory over the demon of the aggregates, and the second is victory over the demon of afflictions. Furthermore, like "Destroying the Flower Arrow," etc., it is a special praise of the morality of renunciation. The one who has an arrow like a flower is the Flower Arrow Holder, who is the god of desire. Destroying it is defeating it. Because it is the cause of that, morality is the Destroyer of the Flower Arrow. Because by abiding in this, the realm of the son of the gods is completely abandoned, therefore it will be able to defeat it. This also shows that it is the cause of victory over the demon of the son of the gods.

Or, these qualities belong to the Blessed One himself, and not necessarily to the discipline of emergence. To that, it should be connected as, "Having bowed to the Buddha, I shall explain the discipline of emergence." What kind of qualities does the Buddha, the Blessed One, possess? The phrase "abode of wealth" is mentioned. Wealth is merit, and it has two aspects: the nature of the accumulation of merit and the nature of the accumulation of wisdom. Its abode is the basis, because the Buddha, the Blessed One, is fully endowed with the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Alternatively, the Blessed One is the abode of worldly and transworldly wealth, the place of arising. Because the Blessed One is the supreme field of merit, and through giving and offerings, etc., these are obtained, therefore the Blessed One, the best of bipeds, is called the field of merit. Furthermore, "will abandon suffering" is also a distinguishing quality. The Blessed One, who has abandoned and eliminated the suffering of samsara, is the one who will abandon suffering. Because the Blessed One possesses the accumulation of merit, he has the bliss of body; because he is fully endowed with the accumulation of wisdom, he has the bliss of mind, therefore he has abandoned suffering. Alternatively, the Blessed One, who has abandoned the suffering of the nature of the five aggregates, is the one who will abandon suffering. This also shows that he has attained the realm of nirvana without remainder, therefore it becomes a praise of the Blessed One. The former is a praise through being fully endowed with the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Furthermore, the Blessed One is distinguished by "view of the aggregates," etc. Because he destroys the root of the demon of the view of the aggregates of sentient beings, he destroys the root of the demon of attachment to the view of the aggregates. Because the world cannot do it without having abandoned the view of one's own aggregates, it is implicitly shown that the Blessed One has abandoned the view of the aggregates, and all of these are explained by this one phrase.
