Head ornaments are scattered, clothes are scattered, decorations are scattered, the sons of gods are fanning with cool fans, the daughters of gods are dancing, emitting fragrance and crisp sounds, pottery jars are praised, humans or non-humans are singing, dragons are playing percussion instruments, and from time to time there are flower houses and fragrant rooms, etc., all of which are good. In order to have music played, saying "Hey, people, make offerings to the teacher," there is no fault in this. Beating large drums and pataha drums, etc., in order to have music played, saying to drummers and others, "Hey, people, make offerings to the teacher," there is no fault in this. On main roads, alleys, crossroads, and three-way intersections, etc., if something is going to happen tomorrow or the day after, the written words should be proclaimed. This means that when the Buddha's image is proceeding in the city, one or two people should walk in front. If asked how to write it, it is: Therefore, write in ditches, etc., "The Buddha is about to come," and on the elephant's footprints, surround it with umbrellas, banners, and streamers, etc. After saying this, the written words should be proclaimed. If asked "How is it so?" it refers to stating that tomorrow or the day after the Buddha is about to come. The statue of a Bodhisattva is in accordance with the Dharma, which means that the statue of a Bodhisattva can be made. Saying "Surround it with flags" refers to that statue of a Bodhisattva. Saying "Surround it with railings" also refers to that statue. Saying "With iron pillars" is also connected to "surround." Saying "Hang streamers on those" refers to those iron pillars. Regarding "following," the "following" mentioned here should be understood as the "previously agreeable retinue" mentioned earlier. Saying "Except for anklets and earrings, wear other ornaments" means that except for those two, wear bracelets and armlets and other remaining ornaments. Saying "Give a fragrant body" refers to petals, sprouts, and vines made of fragrance.

Placing flowers and the like on the body is called the body offering of incense. 'To send by palanquin' refers to the images of the Buddhas. 'Also by chariot' should be connected to 'to send.' Thereupon, raising umbrellas, victory banners, and flags refers to those palanquins and chariots. 'To place flowers on the head and earrings' means that a garland of flowers should be tied on the head of the image of a Bodhisattva. 'Also water for offering and oil for the feet' means that giving to them is in accordance with the Dharma. 'Objects of faith are also taken by the elders, youths, and old people.' Here, 'objects of faith' means objects offered with complete satisfaction. 'The elders protect' refers to the objects of faith. 'A flower garland frame on the wide road' means that in order to prevent water for offering, oil for the feet, flowers, clothes, and other offerings from falling on the ground, a flower garland frame should be placed on the path of these offerings. 'To place a fragrance garland in the flower garland frame' means that a fragrance garland should be placed inside the flower garland frame. 'To wear a garland' refers to the image of a Bodhisattva. 'When the offering is complete and the music ceases, when the crowd of people disperses, the ornaments should be removed' means that at that time the ornaments of the image and so on should be removed. When should they be removed? Therefore, it is said 'at night,' because even if one leaves during the day, one may return again, or one may not wish to leave from the beginning, therefore the ornaments should not be removed during the day. Not only should this be done for the image of a Bodhisattva, but it should be understood that this is permissible for all offerings. The similar things such as building stupas at the time of death have been explained. Now, to speak of what is to be done at the end of the previous topic, holding a festival in the abode of the ordained is in accordance with the Dharma. This means that it is permissible to hold a festival in an individual's temple, which is called the festival of the house. The extensive Vinaya has been explained. Now, to speak of the concise summary of the Vinaya, that which is similar to the impermissible and contrary to the permissible should be summarized as impermissible.
