When struck, even those who are dead are destroyed. For those like coal ash, there is no offense for monks eating them, etc., say the Vinaya holders. If this defamation is for oneself, it becomes a downfall, but for the sake of others, it is a minor offense. Some requests say that if one defames for the sake of others, it becomes a minor offense. The author of the Sutra also said that it is mainly for one's own benefit. Scolding is harsh to the ears. Some explain that if a monk scolds another monk, what happens to offenses other than downfalls? It becomes a minor offense. This is not reasonable. Because, as long as a monk knows something, he will prophesy in other ways. Therefore, all offenses are said to be downfalls, so all offenses should be judged as downfalls. When laying out a mat, the requirements are: the monastery of the Sangha itself, the land is damp or hard, there are mosquitoes and other disturbances, it must be prepared by oneself, or entrusted to others, a mat of grass or leaves, blown away by the wind, mosquitoes biting causing the order to be reversed, and being in a normal state. Expulsion, someone asks, is it said to expel those who cause chaos? Even if it is not explicitly said to abandon, let alone those who cause chaos, because they have not gone beyond the two realms of dwelling and enjoyment. Some say: Those who cause chaos, those who destroy families, and the third, those whose discipline is corrupted, the Sangha should strike the bell and strive to expel them. This statement is unreasonable, because first of all, there is no such statement in the scriptures, and it is also contrary to reason. Because, those who have not lost their vows cannot be expelled, because they have not lost their share of what is obtained. If all the Sangha cause chaos, should they all be expelled? No, because they have not lost their share, otherwise, those who split the Sangha would also be in trouble because of being expelled. However, if it is said that those who cause chaos should be expelled and should not be allowed to live, how should that be understood? Their explanation is this: for the purpose of pacifying the disputes of the Sangha, etc., and expulsion.

Regarding those who have transgressed the present precepts, if the Sangha or an individual expels them, they should not be accepted back, this is a prohibition made for clear warning. In whatever situation, if someone enjoys conflict, and creates conflict for the sake of Dharma and non-Dharma, they should be regarded as a creator of conflict. I am unaware of other treatises that explain this. Regarding later oppression, some consider that comparing a monk's offense to wind, etc., is a warning, and therefore also consider other offenses as downfall offenses, which also implies those who intend to offend and offend monks. In the intermediate summary, saying "because of evil, merit, and uprightness," etc., is incorrect, because considering ninety downfall offenses is limiting the number to ninety. Since equating the number with offenses results in different classifications of downfall offenses, it will increase. If merely committing an offense is considered one downfall offense, then expulsion, revocation of seats, beating, threatening, creating fear, speaking of bad dwellings, etc., would all become one downfall offense, thus it would decrease. Furthermore, if all offenses constitute downfall offenses, then, venerable one, if a monk oppresses monks who were already there in an individual's monastery and lies down, what would happen? It would be a misdeed. Venerable one, even if a monk oppresses from the Sangha's monastery, would it not be a downfall offense? Yes, it is said so for unsuitable bedding, that would also become a downfall offense, because offenses in an individual's monastery and unsuitable bedding are not true offenses. Therefore, other than the act of oppression, the others are misdeeds. Similarly, the Vinaya-vibhaṅga also says that if some monks offend monks, then all of these will become misdeeds. In the exposition of downfall offenses, it is also said to lie down or sit down after oppression, because it does not rely on this. The limb of planting is:
