It is shown by the ground. The characteristic of proclamation is shown by eleven verses, such as "The Buddha subdues beings, like the vast ocean." The characteristic of being well-composed is shown by six verses, such as "Even in hundreds of millions of kalpas." The characteristic of extensive exposition is shown by all the texts from "Those who are endowed with life, the past of the Sagas, and how much is left is that much" to "One should practice yoga with mindfulness and vigilance." The characteristic of summarizing is shown by all the remaining texts, such as "Patience is the supreme asceticism, patience is." Therein, for a while, the characteristic of offering will be explained. The characteristic of offering is that the Pratimoksha Sutra, which is well-composed and proclaimed, is initially offered to the teacher, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, through praise and prostration. Furthermore, the noble ones, in all their well-composed works, first offer praise and prostration to their own teacher. Therefore, in order to gather it well, those who wish to gather the Pratimoksha Sutra well should also first offer praise and prostration to the Buddha, the Bhagavan, the lord of all beings. Therefore, first, "The banner of fame is renowned in the three realms," and so on, two verses were spoken. Therein, for a while, only the first two verses will be discussed in terms of what is to be said, the purpose, the connection, and the necessity of the purpose. Furthermore, if these two verses are devoid of what is to be said, etc., then reciting these two verses at the beginning of reciting the Pratimoksha will only become a meaningless first recitation. Because those who have discernment do not accept what is devoid of what is to be said, etc., therefore, in order to delight the audience, it is necessary to explain what is to be said, etc. Therein, what is to be said is the two verses. From these, one and a half verses speak of the qualities of the Bhagavan, which are the perfection of benefiting others and the supreme perfection of benefiting oneself. The purpose is shown therein, that is, the verse
