it will become like that. Because of not realizing the conventional truth, the seedling of virtue will become a destroyer. Again, it is said that because there is not, the Bhagavan did not say that there is life. Likewise, it was not said elsewhere. Because it will become imputation and non-existence, it was not said that there is not. The continuum of aggregates, for what is good? The fruit of non-virtue exists. That is called life, and if it is said that there is no life, it will become non-existent. What is called life, for the aggregates, it was not said to be merely imputed. At that time, such a person does not have the fortune to realize emptiness. Staying like this, asking whether there is a self, it is said without looking at the questioner's intention. If there is, why not say there is? The so-called world is permanent, also looking at the questioner's intention and not answering. For the time being, if it is thought that the world is self-nature, because that is non-existent, it is unreasonable not to answer all four situations. If it is thought that the world is all samsara, that is also unreasonable. If the world is permanent, then no one will completely be liberated from suffering. If it is impermanent, then everything will be annihilated. If it is both, then some will completely be liberated from suffering, and some will not. If it is neither, then some will neither completely be liberated from suffering, nor will they not be liberated from suffering. Therefore, completely being liberated from suffering depends on the path, so all four situations cannot be definitely answered. Just like the naked heretic grabbing the novice's bird. Likewise, others are also like that. If consciousness arises from consciousness, if it does not arise from self, why will it not always produce the same as it, like sprouts, trunks, leaves, etc., will it not definitely produce in sequence? Because abiding change is the characteristic of conditioned phenomena. Continuously changing, this is the nature of conditioned phenomena. If it is not like that, from those who are absorbed in perfect samadhi, if the same body and mind arise, because there is no difference from the first moment, later they will not wake up. From what arises what, only from that does that arise, so the kinds of minds

It must be so. The Buddhas are masters in knowing the immediate cause. It is said like this: Although the peacock's feather is only one, all the forms of causes cannot be known without the omniscient. Knowing these is the power of the omniscient. Having said that, what need is there to mention the various differences of the formless mind? Why doesn't it only give rise to something similar to it, and why doesn't it necessarily arise in sequence like sprouts, trunks, leaves, etc.? This question will become a clear challenge to those other non-Buddhists who think that the mind arises from the self. If there is no self, then how can the fruit arise in the next life after the karma has ended? Even if there is a self, then how can the fruit arise in the next life after the karma has ended? We also do not think that the fruit will arise in the next life after the karma has ended. So what is it? It comes from the difference of the complete transformation of its continuum. The arising of seeds and fruits is neither from destruction nor is it merely a continuous occurrence. So what is it? It is from the difference of the complete transformation of the continuum. Sprouts, trunks, leaves, etc., until the flowers, other than the complete sequence. So, what is the continuum? What is complete transformation? What is the difference? Because of the preceding karma, the mind arises later, this is the continuum. It is born as other and different things, which is complete transformation. Its ability to produce fruits continuously, that is, from complete transformation, because of its special excellence, is the difference of complete transformation, like the mind with the near-taking aggregates of rebirth. Even though various kinds of karma are preceding, the power produced by which karma is heavier, or which karma is closer, or which karma is more habitual will manifest, but not by other karmas. Just as it is said: In samsara, which karma is heavy, which is near, which is habitual, which was done earlier, from those karmas, the earlier ones mature first. For it, what is produced by the maturing cause, the power produced by the maturing fruit, ceases after producing the maturation. What is produced by the cause of equal destiny is the similar cause.
