Because it always has the nature of arrogance, it is mind. Because it repeatedly arises in various realms, it is entering. Because it focuses closely on the object, it is consciousness. That dependent nature, through the imputed nature, at all times becomes emptiness, peacefulness, and separateness, that is the very nature of the perfectly established. Any consciousness that is never empty of duality, that does not exist even slightly. That emptiness also never changes, from everything to everything it is like the sky, of one taste. Therefore, it is said to be the characteristic of the perfectly established. The noble Maitreya also said: "The non-reality of duality's non-reality, is the characteristic of the emptiness of things." Well then, the emptiness of duality is without beginning, if that is the case, then from the very beginning one should become enlightened. It is not so, because even if one fully experiences it, there is no certainty. Therefore, for the dependent nature, if one ascertains that it is the nature of the perfectly established, one will become enlightened. If one ascertains that it is the nature of the imputed, one will wander in samsara. Whatever is the nature of the perfectly established, that is the nature of the emptiness of the dependent nature. Empty of what? Empty of duality. Because it is emptiness, it is not a real thing. Because it truly exists, it is not a non-real thing. The body is a real thing, therefore it is not other. In terms of characteristics, it is not non-other. Thus it is said. If these are not other, then upon seeing conditioned phenomena, emptiness will also necessarily be ascertained. If that is so, then everything will become seeing the truth and so forth. Furthermore, just as conditioned phenomena are all defiled, emptiness will also become all defiled. Just as emptiness is permanent, all defilement will also become permanent, or just as emptiness is inanimate, conditioned phenomena will also become inanimate. Therefore, it is not non-different from them. Nor is it different, because even those who see the truth will not overwhelm the characteristics of conditioned phenomena. Furthermore, that emptiness will not be experienced. The characteristics of all defilement and purification will also become one and different. Therefore, this is not different from them. Thus it is said: "Not real, not non-real, not different, not of one characteristic."

Thus it is said. Also, the categories of its names are: Suchness, ultimate reality, signlessness, ultimate meaning, the realm of Dharma, and the nature of Dharma. Thus it is said. The meanings of those categories of names are: Because it is unchanging, it is Suchness. Because it is the limit of Suchness, it is the ultimate reality. Because this has no characteristic of things, it is signlessness. Because it is the supreme wisdom that transcends the world, and the meaning is its object, if it is certain, it is the ultimate meaning. Because it is the cause of the noble Dharmas, it is the realm of Dharma. Because it is the nature of all things, it is the nature of Dharma. Also, its previous state is completely defiled by afflictions, and it also has adventitious stains that do not belong to its nature. Later, having abandoned those, it becomes completely pure and is without stains, that is: It is with stains and without stains, completely defiled and completely purified, like the water element, gold, and the sky, it is hoped to be pure as purity. If afflictions were not like that, all sentient beings would be liberated. If complete purity were not like that, effort would become fruitless. It is not affliction, nor is it non-affliction, that is not pure, nor is it impure. The nature of the mind is luminosity, because of afflictions and adventitiousness. Thus it is widely said. Thus, those have the form of the completely imputed, and the form of the discriminated, and the form of the nature of Dharma, and also the imputed existence and the substantial existence, and the ultimate existence, and so on, it is also said. Therefore, that which possesses the three natures is the Middle Way, as it is said. In terms of the nature of the completely imputed, it is not existent, and in terms of the nature of the dependent and the perfectly established, it is not non-existent, therefore it is free from the two extremes. That is: The unreal is the completely conceptualized as existent, In it, both existence and non-existence are not. Emptiness is truly existent in it, In it, this existence is also existent. It is not empty, nor is it non-empty, Therefore, all is explained. By existence, by non-existence, by existence, Therefore, this is the Middle Way. Thus it is said. The body of discrimination of blue and so on is existent. The characteristics of blue and so on are non-existent, because there is the harm that will be explained as it is said. Therefore, the imprints of blue and so on.
