Because it is coarse, it is the coarsest. For example, like feelings and so on, although they do not reside in a place, my hand can feel it. My brain can feel it, because the aspect is coarse, it is completely cut off from the place, so it is only said to it. But it is not said to feelings and so on. Therefore, it is said under form. Feeling is the nature of grasping the mark, because it is easy to understand, both are the coarsest. Formation is the mark of formation, because it is easy to comprehend, it is coarser than consciousness. Consciousness is subtle because it is all, so it is said at the end of everything. So, is the so-called form aggregate a common basis, or is it for that person? It is not a common basis. Because the aggregate is not a real thing. Because the word aggregate is a synonym for accumulation, therefore the aggregates are nominally existent like accumulation. Therefore, there is no common basis. Nor is it for that person. If there is a mutually different nature, there will be a connection, like "Devadatta's uncle." The word "of" in the so-called "form aggregate" also means connection. If it becomes another aggregate from form, then the nominally existent cannot be said to be both it and other from its own basis, so it is not recognized. There is no fault in this. For what is not other, and cannot be said to be both it and other, the sixth can also be seen, that is, the body that has become form, and the non-existence of form. What has become form is not other than the body. Non-existence is also not a real thing, so it cannot be said to be both it and other from form, because the cause of being both it and other is its own nature. Because it is without self-nature, it depends on holding other real things. Whatever is held and said to what, that is without the nature different from the basis, so it is only nominally existent. Because it is not real, it is called only nominally existent. Therefore, even if it cannot be said to be both it and other from its own basis, there is no contradiction in "of". Therefore, here is the "of" of that person. What is form? It is

The four great elements and the four great elements are the causes of what is produced. When the aggregates are mentioned, if one asks what is form, is this question irrelevant? It is not irrelevant, because the nature of the aggregates is emptiness. Merely stating its nature cannot clearly distinguish it. However, it can be changed by distinguishing its support. Therefore, one asks what is form, but it is not the aggregate of form. In order to show the difference of form in causal and consequential things, the four great elements and so on are mentioned. Thus, all these four great elements are the cause of all form produced by causes, and all form produced by causes is the result of all four great elements. The reason why these elements are called great is that they are the support of all form produced by causes, so they are very large in volume. Or, because all the assembled forms and so on have characteristics such as thickness? Or, because their dwelling places are very vast, they are called great. The reason why these elements are called arising is that when various forms produced by causes are formed, they appear in their respective forms. Or, due to the karma of all sentient beings, they have never appeared or experienced since the beginningless cycle, so they are called arising. For others, it will not excessively become arising, because it is just a name, like sleeping on the ground and so on. There are only four of them, neither more nor less, otherwise it would fall into a state of inability and unnecessary. The function of the elements is only to serve as reliance, gathering, maturation, and movement. Because they themselves complete these functions and there are no other functions, there are only four elements. Just like reliance and so on, the function of space is to open up space. If space is also completed by space like earth, will space also excessively become a great element? It will not be like that, why? Because there is nothing called space except for colored objects without obstacles. The obstructed object disappears from its own nature, and only opens up space for the obstructed object in its own position.
