Believing in the words of others, yet not befriending them. Those who are fearsome and capable, their lifespan is short and uncertain. What should not be done, they do not do, and what no one else can do, they do. There is no greater happiness than this, and doing it without fear, because they do not know how to do it. If everyone is immersed in the illusory bubble of desire, then, are they not like a sleeping elephant, indulging in pleasure? Although all children have support, alas, how unbearable, how difficult! Alas, how painful, how terrifying! Alas, they are heading towards destruction. Whatever is called the Buddha's word, which can fulfill the wishes of the precious ones, if someone without stinginess strikes the ghaṇṭā (藏文:གཎྜཱི་,梵文天城体:घण्टा,梵文罗马拟音:ghaṇṭā,汉语字面意思:bell) and proclaims it, then these foolish, arrogant, and dull children will, like enemies, bring about their own destruction, and instead rejoice in the enemies of the village. Those who strive to help themselves, even if they are enemies, should accept their good advice. Even if someone is bad, if they can help others, their actions should be examined. The Arhat benefits beings and is a reliable ally, as the Buddha said. If the Buddha's words are not accepted, then it is better to end the discussion here. These verses fully demonstrate how to feel sorrow for children. So, how should one feel sorrow for children? Because they dwell in the wrong path, which has five faults. And this wrong path is also shown by the other three verses. In short, one should understand starting from not listening to and not accepting the Buddha's words. The Buddha's words are difficult to obtain, of great meaning, and can be obtained without effort, but due to the blindness of ignorance, they are attached to the source of carelessness—sounds related to lust—unwilling to listen, and even if they hear, they are unwilling to accept beneficial advice, and do not follow the teachings of beneficial teachers, therefore they do not accept the Buddha's words. What are the five faults? They are: unbearable, difficult, painful, terrifying, and heading towards destruction. Even if there is an antidote, the wrong path with five faults is expressed in terms of unbearable, etc. Why is it unbearable? Because it is the source of future suffering. For example, whatever
