This (syllable 'ba') shows that it possesses the ten meanings of words and is the seventh basis of the basis of consistency. Thus, in the scriptures, the Sutra is known as the Buddha's teachings, and the Abhidharma is also known as explaining the meaning of what is said. If that is the case, would it be sufficient to just say "Sutra"? That is not the case, because the Sutras are also for the sake of straightforward meaning, so the ten meanings of words also similarly, due to the will of the trainees, explain the meaning with intention, so it will be regarded as the meaning of straightforwardness. The Abhidharma is the meaning of definiteness because it is dedicated to explaining the meaning of what is said. If that is the case, would it be sufficient to just say "Abhidharma"? That is not the case, otherwise it would become non-canonical, like entering into wisdom and so on. On the other hand, because the Abhidharma is uncontaminated wisdom, therefore the Abhidharma is distinguished by external characteristics, because the object of uncontaminated wisdom is the external characteristic, suchness. What is distinguished by its own characteristics is the Sutra, because it mainly shows the uncommon features that arise from the will of the trainees. Therefore, the Abhidharma Sutra is distinguished by the characteristics of both, and the explanation related to it is also the nature of both, which will be shown. On the other hand, the Abhidharma is distinguished by higher wisdom training because it is for complete distinction, and it mainly leads to Nirvana, while the other two trainings are not the main guides. The Sutra is distinguished by all three trainings, because all three trainings are shown due to the will of the trainees. Therefore, it is named by the two words Abhidharma and Sutra, but not by the Vinaya. This is uniquely distinguished by higher discipline and higher mind, discipline is its own direct cause, and Samadhi is through the way of fruit, because there is an interval, so it is not through wisdom. Therefore, this distinction is related to the Abhidharma Sutra, but not to the collection of the Vinaya.

The term "not related to that" is used. The mention of Mahayana is to show that it is not common with Sravakas, etc. Because it is not common with Sravakas, etc., the ten aspects will be explained, and these themselves enter into the distinction, and the distinction of these is the speech of the noble ones. The unspeakable speech is all without distinction, therefore, distinctions are made by things such as the place of knowledge. Knowable things are of three kinds, distinguished by complete accomplishment, etc. Complete accomplishment is also of two kinds: permanent and impermanent. That which is permanent is called Suchness, because it is the nature of the subject, therefore the place is the subject. Although similar in being the subject, only the Alaya-consciousness is established as the place because it is stable. Because it is unstable, the entering consciousness is not. Therefore, this explains that Suchness is the nature of the subject, so it is not completely non-existent like a sky flower, etc. That which is impermanent is also of two kinds: the nature of true wisdom and the nature of seeds. That which is true wisdom depends on the Alaya-consciousness, and because it arises, it is only the place. The nature of seeds is also of two kinds: naturally abiding and truly accomplished. Both are the place of those because they are taken by the taking consciousness and enter simultaneously. Other's power is also of two kinds: completely afflicted and pure worldly. The pure worldly is only its place because it is related to the taking consciousness. Completely afflicted is also of two kinds: gathered by the collection of seven consciousnesses and gathered by the Alaya-consciousness. That which is gathered by the collection of seven consciousnesses is that although the Alaya-consciousness and the entering consciousness, etc., are mutually cause and effect, because the taking consciousness is stable, only the taking consciousness is the place, and the other consciousnesses are not, because they are unstable.
