What is it that is endowed with the five perfections? What of mind? It is endowed with the mind's consciousness. What is it that is associated with defilement? It is endowed with attachment to the body. What is it that is not associated with defilement? It is not associated with attachment to it. What is it that is the basis of clinging? It is endowed with attachment to the five objects of desire. What is it that is the basis of emergence? It is not associated with it. What is the establishment of the aggregate of perception? It is the six collections of perception, namely, the perception arising from eye contact, and the perception arising from ear, nose, body, and mind contact, by which one truly knows what is with signs, what is without signs, what is small, what is vast, what is immeasurable, and thinking that there is nothing at all, one also truly knows the sphere of nothingness. What is perception with signs? It is perception other than that which is unskilled in terminology, and which is absorbed in the realm of signlessness, and which is absorbed in the peak of existence. What is perception without signs? It is other than any perception. What is small perception? It is that by which one knows the desire realm. What is perception that has become vast? It is that by which one knows the form realm. What is immeasurable perception? It is that by which one knows the sphere of infinite space and the sphere of infinite consciousness. What is the perception of nothingness? It is that by which one knows the sphere of nothingness. What is the establishment of the aggregate of formations? It is the six collections of intention, namely, the intention arising from eye contact, and the intention arising from ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind contact, by which one intends for the sake of virtue, and also intends for the sake of all afflictions, and also intends for the sake of temporary distinctions. Thus, this intention, and the mental phenomena other than feeling and perception, and the formations that are not associated with mind, are called the aggregate of formations. What are those? They are intention, attention, contact, desire, conviction, mindfulness
