You should become wise. Thus, a Bodhisattva who cultivates well should realize that extremely clinging nature. By this, the mind will be liberated from all obscurations. After that, having realized the nature of what is to be known, relying on the excellent pure intention, one should accomplish the realization of the six perfections that were previously cultivated. After that, the six perfections that are upheld by the excellent pure intention should be well distinguished in the ten grounds, and should be cultivated for three countless eons. After that, the three trainings of the Bodhisattva should be completely fulfilled. After fulfilling them, one should realize its result, which is the peace of Nirvana, and the unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment. Thus, the order of these ten grounds has been taught. In this teaching, all the Mahayana is completely fulfilled. Among them, first of all, only the Alaya-consciousness is called the object of knowledge. The Blessed One has taught the Alaya-consciousness. Where is the Alaya-consciousness taught? The Blessed One said in verses in the Abhidhamma Sutra: The realm of beginningless time, is the basis of all phenomena, because of it, all beings, and Nirvana are attained. Also in the same sutra it says: All phenomena are seeds, all are Alaya, therefore I say Alaya, I speak for the victors. This is a brief statement of scripture. Why is it called Alaya-consciousness? Because sentient beings connect all the defiled dharmas with the entity of the result, or connect them with the entity of the cause, therefore it is Alaya-consciousness. Or, sentient beings connect with its own nature, therefore it is Alaya-consciousness. It can also be called the grasping consciousness. For this, the scriptural authority is found in the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, as it says: The grasping consciousness is very deep and subtle, all seeds flow like a stream, it is not suitable to have a view of self, this I have not taught to children. As it is said. Why is it grasping

What is called "taking consciousness"? It is because it is the cause of all material faculties and the place of grasping for sentient beings. Like this, as long as life exists, it continuously keeps these five material faculties from decaying, and it becomes the place of grasping for all bodies. Even when connecting one's own intermediate state, it is because it grasps the body that can manifest, so it grasps the body. Therefore, it is called "taking consciousness." It is also called "mind," as the Blessed One said, mind, intellect, and consciousness. There are two kinds of intellect: one is the intellect immediately after consciousness ceases, which is the place where consciousness arises, because it acts as an immediate cause and becomes a place; the other is the defiled intellect, which is constantly associated with the four afflictions—view of the perishable aggregate, pride of "I am," attachment to self, and ignorance. It is the place where consciousness is completely defiled. Consciousness is produced by one place and defiled by another. Because it can recognize objects, it is consciousness. There are two kinds of intellect, namely, immediate intellect and self-grasping intellect. If it is said that the defiled intellect does not exist, what fault would there be? If it does not exist, there would be the fault of ignorance not being mixed with defilement. There would also be the fault of not being the same as the five consciousnesses. Like this, the place where the collection of the five consciousnesses arises together is the eye, etc. There would also be the fault of not having a definitive word. There would also be the fault of no difference between the non-conceptual attainment and the cessation attainment. Like this, the non-conceptual attainment is completely distinguished by the defiled intellect, but the cessation attainment is not. Otherwise, these two would be no different. If there is no self-grasping and no pride of "I am" in the non-conceptual state, then when first born in the non-conceptual state, there would also be the fault of not being defiled. In virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral minds, self-grasping also universally arises at all times.

It is also for the sake of focusing on that. Otherwise, only the non-virtuous mind and its associates give rise to the affliction of "I", but not for the virtuous and the unspecified. Therefore, co-arising and corresponding arising will not become these faults. Here are verses: Unmixed ignorance, similar to the five, the distinction of equipoise, and the fault of undefined. The stream of unconscious birth, becomes the fault of no self-grasping. To be associated with self-grasping, is not reasonable in all aspects. If there is no afflicted mind, then the two without the three are contradictory. If there is no that, then the self-grasping one, will not be everywhere. Entering into the true meaning, always becomes an obstacle to the mind, and that which arises in all times, is considered unmixed ignorance. The mind is obscured and unspecified because it is afflicted, and it is always associated with the four types of obscuring afflictions. Like the afflictions that operate in the form and formless realms, this is obscured and unspecified. The mind that operates in the form and formless realms is characterized by calm abiding, and the mind is always present. Apart from the Alaya-consciousness, the third body of mind is invisible, therefore the Alaya-consciousness is proven to be the mind itself. From that, all seeds arise mind and consciousness. And why is it called mind? Because it is accumulated by various seeds of habitual tendencies of dharmas. Why is it that in the Hearer's Vehicle, this mind is not called Alaya-consciousness or grasping consciousness? Because it is for collecting subtle knowable objects, and Hearers do not belong to those who completely know all knowable objects. Therefore, they can understand well even without being taught, so liberation is well established, so it is not taught. Bodhisattvas belong to those who completely know all knowable objects. Therefore, this is taught to them, if they do not understand this, then all
